DJERBA

Day 1: Welcome to Tunisia!

Arrive at Djerba airport, where your driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, relaxing at the hotel and exploring the surrounding area. 

Ksar Ouled Soltane - Chenini - Douiret

Day 2: Discovering Ksours of Southern Tunisia

Begin today journeying along ancient the Roman road towards Tataouine, known as the gateway to the desert. Explore the city and immerse yourself in the local culture. Then, continue towards Ksar Ouled Soltane, one of the best Ksours in southern Tunisia, and a filming location for some of the scenes from the famous movie Star Wars.

Afterwards, depart for Chenini, a small village nestled in the mountains, famous for its Ksours and houses that are dug into the walls of the mountains. Explore the surrounding area with a local guide who will share the history and traditions of his village with you.

Following lunch, you will hike from Chenini to the village of Douiret, taking in the stunning views of the surrounding landscape, and marvelling at the beauty of the troglodyte houses built into the mountains.

Ksar Ghilane - DOUZ - Sahara Camp

Day 3: A Night Under the Stars

After breakfast, embark on an exciting journey to Ksar Ghilane, a picturesque oasis nestled in the heart of the Sahara. Soak in the natural thermal waters and relax in the serene desert environment. Take an optional quad bike tour or camel ride to explore the old fort, Tisavar, a historic site dating back to the 7th century.

Enjoy a delicious lunch before continuing to the campsite where we will spend the night, passing through the vibrant city of Douz on the way. Sit back and take in the stunning sunset over the desert before settling in for the night at the Berber tent camp. Feast on a hearty dinner and spend the evening around a warm fire, listening to traditional music and storytelling, before falling asleep under the bright starry sky above.

Chott Djerid - Tozeur

Day 4: Explore Tozeur's Ancient Medina

After a gentle start to the day waking up in breathtaking surroundings, set out on a scenic drive to Tozeur, the gateway to the Tunisian Sahara. Along the way, cross the mesmerizing Chott El Djérid Lake, known for its mythical aura and stories of lost armies. Upon arrival in Tozeur, explore the characterful labyrinth of alleys making up its ancient medina.

In the afternoon, gear up for a bike ride through the lush palm groves of Tozeur. Or, if you prefer, visit the Dar Chéraït Museum of Traditional Art to learn more about local culture and traditions. End your day with a delicious meal at a local restaurant, savouring the flavours of Tunisian cuisine.

Chebika - Tamerza - Ong Jmel

Day 5: A Day in the Tunisian Mountains

After breakfast, depart for a day full of adventure and breathtaking scenery. First, we'll visit the stunning mountain oases of Chébika, Tamerza, and Midès. Get ready to feel like you're in a suspended paradise at this popular filming location, with water springs that flow from the side of the mountain and cascading waterfalls all around. 

For lunch stop at a typical homestay restaurant to indulge in a traditional Tunisian menu. After lunch, we'll leave civilization behind and embark on a thrilling adventure in the dunes of Ong Djemel, following the Ralley track to discover the landscapes of Star Wars and the village of Mose Espa.

We’ll make a stop at the basket of Nefta, before carrying on to our hotel for the evening.

Gabes - Matmata - Toujene

Day 6: The Star Wars Day

After breakfast, depart to Gabes to visit the old market and soak up the local culture. Enjoy lunch at a typical restaurant in Matmata, before continuing to Sidi Driss, the hotel where some of the iconic scenes from Star Wars were filmed. Explore the Troglodyte Village and be greeted with Roman tea, homemade bread, and local olive oil and honey.

Next, visit the charming Berber village of Toujene for coffee and free time to stroll around. As the day draws to a close, continue your adventure to the beautiful island of Djerba. Experience the unique blend of Tunisian and Berber culture and enjoy a memorable dinner before retiring for the night.

Guellala - Djerbahood

Day 7: Pottering Around in Guellela

After breakfast, we will depart for the charming village of Guellela, famous for its pottery. You will have the opportunity to watch the craftsmen at work and even purchase some handmade pottery as a souvenir.

Next, we will head to the vibrant alleys of Djerba Hood, where you’ll have free time to explore and take pictures of the colourful murals painted on the walls by local and international artists.

We will then proceed to the lively Houmt souk, where you can immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of the market and discover the local crafts and spices. From handmade carpets and baskets to traditional Tunisian clothing, the souk offers a wide variety of unique souvenirs to bring back home.

Day 8: Goodbye Tunisia!

Today draw a close to your Tunisian journey through Berber villages and Star Wars sets. Spend the day at leisure until your transfer to Tunis Airport for your return flight.
