Zaragoza

Day 1: Touchdown in Zaragoza

Welcome to Spain! Upon arrival, you will collect your rental car and drive to your hotel in Zaragoza for check-in. Spend the night in the city, enjoying a walk around Zaragoza and its magnificent Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, then savoring a range of tapas in bars and taverns within the lively old quarter.

Zaragoza - Jaca - Canfranc International Railway Station

Day 2: Self-drive journey to Canfranc

Today you will drive from Zaragoza to Canfranc, where you'll check into the wonderfully unique and historic Canfranc Hotel: once a railway station that played a role in the Spanish Civil War and World War II, it overflows with history and stories to tell.

If you fancy some sightseeing during your drive, Jaca is a great pit-stop along the way to Canfranc - take time to stretch your legs as you explore the quaint streets and wander around the 16th-century citadel.

Day 3: History & hiking in Canfranc

Today you'll tour the hotel to learn about its history as a railway station, its role during World War II, and the surrounding natural landscapes and hidden bunkers. Mired in myth, the vast international railway terminal was a hotbed of espionage, and a trade route for Spanish tungsten and German loot during the war.

Afterwards, head for a hike in nature. As you go, you'll discover a group of underground constructions and bunkers which made up the biggest fortress in Europe at the end of World War II. They were built by the dictator Franco between 1944 and 1957, after the fall of the German regime.

Lárrede - Monte Perdido - Ainsa

Day 4: Into the heart of Ordesa National Park

Today you'll drive to Broto, to meet your guide and embark on a tour of the Ordesa and Monte Perdido lookouts. Ascend by 4x4 vehicle to the top before enjoying a hiking experience along the best viewpoints of the National Park. You'll get to experience amazing views that will soon become lifetime memories.

The rest of the day will be spent enjoying your free time amidst beautiful landscapes, such as those of the Añisclo Valley, and quaint villages, such as Torla, which surround the National Park. Spend the night in the medieval town of Aínsa, considered one of the most beautiful towns in Spain, located about 50 minutes' drive from the grounds of Ordesa National Park.

Ainsa - Benasque

Day 5: Paragliding in Benasque

Today, drive from Aínsa to Benasque, in the easternmost valley of the Aragonese Pyrenees. There, you'll discover one of the most incredible and deepest valleys in the area - but rather than hike its grounds, you will ascend into the air for an unforgettable paragliding experience, offering bird's-eye views of this natural paradise. With the help of an experienced pilot, you'll soar across a very unique and scenic region, filled with peaks taller than 3,000m!

Please note that while no minimum age restriction is in place for this experience, you will be required to wear trekking boots or sport shoes, long trousers, a windbreaker or winter jacket, a long-sleeve sweater, and gloves (in winter).

Benasque

Day 6: A horseback adventure in nature

On your last full day of exploring, set out by horseback around the beautiful landscapes of Benasque and its surroundings. Ride along four different landscapes, which change depending on the altitude: the grasslands of the deepest part of the valley, the mixed forests, the black pine forests, and the highland's meadows.

You'll pass a borda to learn about farming traditions and lifestyles of the past, then stop to appreciate the glacial formation of the Benasque Valley, before gazing in awe at three of the highest mountains in the Pyrenees: Posets, Perdiguero and Maladeta. Take a picnic lunch by a river, then continue on to visit the Ardonés Waterfall, finally passing through the village of Cerler before ending your tour.

Benasque - Alquezar - Zaragoza

Day 7: Drive back to Zaragoza via Alquézar

Today, depart Benasque and return to Zaragoza, making the most of your final hours in Spain with a stop in Alquézar along the way.

Together with Aínsa, this town is considered one of the most beautiful in Spain; you'll soon see why as you walk around its streets, feeling as though you've traveled back in time. If time allows, take the chance to try your hand at canyoning with the help of an expert guide - a thrilling experience is guaranteed!

Finally, continue your transfer into Zaragoza, where you'll drop off your rental car and take your flight back home. Buen viaje!
