6-Day Tour: From the Modern Capital to the Ancient Parts of Laos

Following, pay a visit to Haw Phra Kaew. This large temple has an exceptional interior and exterior that will amaze you. It was built to house the famed Emerald Buddha in courtyards decorated with plumeria.

In the afternoon, it's time to visit the giant golden stupa, Pha That Luang, and the Arc de Triomphe of Laos. Once you climb to the top, you'll be rewarded with a splendid view.

Wake up to another beautiful morning in Laos! After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken to the airport to board your flight to Luang Prabang, Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can have a short break before exploring the astonishing Luang Prabang.

Visit the Royal Palace, Haw Kham that was built in 1904 during the French colonial era for King Sisavang Vong and his family. In the evening, climb the 328 steps to Phou Si Mountain. Though you'll be tired from the long day, the climb is worth it. You'll be in awe of the breathtaking panoramic view expanding in front of you. Just imagine the wide rivers surrounding the city as the golden sunset touches the tops of the cityscape. This view will bring you a lasting memory.

The final stop of the day is the Hilltribe Market where you can find traditional textiles and handicrafts.

In the morning, head off to the piers of Luang Prabang to embark on a traditional boat trip upstream the Mekong River where you will visit the Pak Ou Caves. On the way, make a stop at Ban Xang Hai where you can sample distilled sticky rice wine.

Gently cruise up the Mekong River to admire the phenomenal collection of gold-lacquered Buddha statues nestled deep inside the massive limestone caverns of the Pak Ou Caves. This is one of the holiest places in Laos, and it is a unique treasure you would never expect to see.

While you're anchored beneath the limestone karsts, experience the magical Lao cuisine. On the way back, make multiple stops to visit the local village. There, you can observe the production of traditional Lao textiles and Sa paper by local artisans.

Make an effort to wake up early today to witness the mesmerizing morning ritual of the saffron-clad monks. The monks receive offerings from the locals in their black alms giving bowls, including gifts of delicious sticky rice. 

Afterward, get ready to explore Luang Prabang's serene countryside and the famous Kuang Si Waterfalls. You will be left speechless by the beauty of the landscapes of rice fields, hills, and the charming villages.

Once you arrive at the Kuang Si Waterfalls, enjoy your time to the fullest. Admire the magnificent nature surrounding you, sit under the shade of big trees, and jump into the pools for a relaxing swim.

After you have relaxed, travel back to Luang Prabang where you will visit the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre for insight into the country's various ethnic groups and traditional crafts.

After a rich breakfast in the comfort of your hotel, you have the whole morning to wander around Luang Prabang at your own pace.
