On your first full day, your expert guide will greet you in the hotel lobby, eager to lead you on an introductory tour of Parma, beginning with the 12th-century baptistery. The pink marble exterior showcases the octagonal Romanesque architecture, while Biblical reliefs adorn the wooden doors. Inside, 13th-century Byzantine-style frescoes blanket the walls and ceiling.

In the afternoon, you'll visit the Cathedral, renowned for its 11th-century Romanesque charm and 13th-century bell tower, housing masterpieces by artists like Correggio. Start the day early and explore the bustling Piazza della Ghiaia market where you can grab breakfast! Here, the air is filled with the aroma of fresh artichokes, eggplants, and other local produce.

After you've grabbed food, your guide will take you to Cremona, renowned for its historical connection to artisan violins and lutes. Visit the distinctive Violin Museum to learn about the instrument's history, sound, and craftsmanship. Then, meet a modern-day violinmaker to discover the secrets of crafting perfect violins before heading to Verdi's home in Busseto.

Head back to Parma for another overnight stay.

Day 4: Venture to Soragna & Torrechiara

Journey to the tranquil village of Soragna, known for its historic castle and scenic lowlands. Along the way, you'll encounter butchers offering samples of cured ham and winemakers showcasing their cellar barrels.

Arrive at the imposing Rocca Meli Lupi fortress, a 14th-century marvel with four protective towers and a central tower on the south façade. The interior features original Baroque furnishings, reflecting the aristocratic elegance of the era. Later, visit the charming village of Torrechiara.

Return to Parma for a leisurely stroll along the Parma River, with snow-capped peaks providing a stunning backdrop.

Day 7: A day trip to Ferrara

After breakfast, venture to Ferrara with your guide to discover the often-overlooked city that was once home to the powerful Este Family. The 12th-century Cathedral of Saint George has both Romanesque and Gothic design with pink and white marble and is a big highlight.

You'll visit a collection of shops at the Loggia of the Merchants. Here, you will find the image of the Este’s power in the dramatic façade of the castle. The walls and towers soar above the cobbled streets and protective moat.

In the evening, you'll return to Bologna to enjoy a streetside meal by candlelight.

Day 8: Marvel at the past in Ravenna

Today, travel to the city of Ravenna where the past and the unique charms of Italy will weave through your day. The city once served as the capital of the Western Roman Empire, which lead to a golden age of architecture and artwork that ended around the 6th century. You'll marvel at the pastel facades that encircle the Piazza del Popolo. Go inside the Basilica di San Vitale where you'll see ornate and ancient mosaics on display.

Enjoy lunch at a fragrant bakery before returning to Bologna for a free afternoon. You'll have time to relax and get to bed early for an adventurous day ahead.

Factory tour & Ferraris in Modena

Day 9: Factory tour & Ferraris in Modena

Head to Modena, renowned for sports cars, artistic treasures, and world-class balsamic vinegar. During your tour, learn first-hand how the factory cooks fresh grapes to a syrup before they age the product in wooden barrels to improve the flavor. Your guide will offer you samples of the vinegar produced on the property, which ranges from balsamic that is aged between 12 and 50 years.

In the afternoon, reach the Ferrari Museum and Factory located in the town of Maranello, near Modena. Explore the museum to witness the historic extent of the gleaming, gorgeous models of the iconic car. 

Your last night in Italy comes to a grand conclusion with a dinner at the widely acclaimed Michelin three-star restaurant, Osteria Francescana.
