Upon arriving at Reykjavik, you’ll head straight for the Golden Circle route, what most only see during their time here. However, you have no need to worry. You’ll be able to see and experience the vast expansiveness of the island beyond what most tourists see.

From cascading and majestic waterfalls to towering and imposing glaciers, Mother Nature will always be putting a display on for you. Dip into the waters of this geothermal region, the perfect end to any day.

Day 1: Welcome to Reykjavik!

Upon arrival into Reykjavik International Airport, collect your luggage before being transferred to your hotel in the hear of the city.

Today is dedicated to exploring Reykjavik on a free day in the city. Feel free to spend it at your own pace and leisure, enjoying everything that this quaint city has to offer.

We'll provide you with a detailed list of all the most interesting museums and sightseeing in town. An optional puffin and/or whale watching tour can be organized.

Thingvellir - Geysir - Gullfoss

Day 2: Discover the Golden Circle

Start your day headed for the famous Golden Circle to visit some of Iceland’s most stunning highlights.

Driving through Thingvellir National park, you will visit the geothermal area of geysers, where Strokkur, the most active geyser of all, erupts every 5 to 10 minutes, throwing a column of water into the air to a height of 20 to 30 meters.

Your next stop is Gullfoss waterfall, powerful and beautiful as it pours down from two tiers into an ancient valley.

Have lunch in a local farm surrounded by the friendly Icelandic horses where they serve great Icelandic ice cream, before proceeding to Kerid Crater, an ancient volcano crater now filled with a lake inside.

There's the possibility to end your day at the Secret Lagoon, the oldest hot spring in Iceland, for few hours of relaxing in its hot waters.

Day 3: Explore Iceland's North

This morning, someone from a rental car company will come to pick you up from your hotel to bring you to their office before delivering you the rental car for your self-drive.

Then, start driving to the Snaefellsnes peninsula to visit its stunning glacier and fascinating lava fields, rock formations and unique beaches, including Arnarstapi and Hellnar.

Glacier waterfalls merge with charming fishing villages such as Grundarfjordur and its stunning mountain of Kirkjufell, is one of the most favored sites for photographers from all over the world.

A delicious dinner in one of the most famous fishing restaurants in Iceland will be the best way to end up your day in Snaefellsnes, called “Iceland in miniature” by locals.

Day 4: Extraordinary Beauty of the Westfjords

We hope that after a comfortable sleep and a delectable breakfast that you are ready for your next adventure in Iceland.

Take the ferry to the Westfjords and start your adventure driving along the stunning orange-hued Rauðasandur beaches which are begging you to walk along.

Take a bath in a tiny hot spring near the ocean and reach the famous cliffs of Latrabjarg, Iceland’s amazing westernmost point and the largest seabird colony in the whole of the Northern Atlantic, before an unforgettable overnight in the area.

Day 5: Hike through Iceland's Grandness

Today is dedicated to exploring the area of Latrabjarg.

Your guide will pick you up at your hotel this morning for a hike that includes a visit to the Heritage Museum at Hnjótur. In this interesting museum, you will learn how Icelandic people lived in the old days by examining cultural values, and how they rescued sailors from stranded ships under the steep cliffs.

For the younger ones, another option is to take a tour to meet the seals that lay on the beaches of Raudsandur.

Arnarfjörður Fjord - Dynjandi Waterfall - Isafjordur

Day 6: Drive through Picturesque Terrain

Spectacular driving routes, waterfalls, mountain peaks by the ocean and tiny fishing villages will shape your day today.

This morning, travel through the great Arnarfjörður fjord and enjoy the stunning coastline and spectacular mountain views.

Stop at the majestic Dynjandi waterfall, regarded as one of the most unique and spectacular waterfalls in Iceland before a relaxed evening in Isafjordur, the capital of the Westfjords.

Prepare for an unforgettable dining experience at Tjoruhusid, the best seafood restaurant in Iceland, which will be the perfect way to end such a magnificent day.

Bathe in the Serenity of the Westfjords

Osvor Maritime Museum - Bolungarvik - Heydalur

Day 7: Bathe in the Serenity of the Westfjords

Take a short 20-minute drive to Bolungarvik village and along the way, stop for a visit to the tiny Osvor Maritime museum. There, you'll be entertained with tales of how life was for Icelandic fishermen up until the beginning of the 20th century.

In Bolungarvik, you can drive to the top of its most famous peak, Bolafjell, where legend says you can see Greenland from the top. Both Isafjordur and Bolungarvik are full of hiking paths of all kinds that can be easily done alone.

After lunch, drive through the dreamy and winding landscapes of Ísafjarðardjúp Bay and, along the way,  take a detour to Valagil, a narrow ravine with a majestic waterfall running through its middle, before continuing southward to the Litli-Bær traditional turf-roofed house to get waffles and coffee in front of its majestic fjord view.

Hornstrandir Nature Reserve

Day 8: Get Up Close to Iceland's Wildlife

Today is dedicated to the Natural Reserve of Hornstrandir combining a boat tour to reach the isolated site and a guided fox watching easy walk, suitable for all ages.

Meet the Arctic foxes, the only indigenous animal of Iceland, in the surrounding pristine nature, before enjoying a delicious home-cooked dinner in a beautifully restored farmhouse that was originally built in 1921.

Head Back to Reykjavik

Day 9: Head Back to Reykjavik

This morning, you'll drive to the local airport to drop your car off before boarding a domestic flight back to Reykjavik.

Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to the comfort of your hotel where after checking in, you have the rest of the day to spend at your own pace and leisure.

In case you're looking to treat yourself two days in a row, why not head to the world-famous Blue Lagoon where you can spend a few hours relaxing in the milky geothermal waters. There's the option to have some time at the spa, so why not treat yourself if you're feeling fancy.

Day 10: Say Farewell to Iceland

This morning, a bus transfer will drive you to the Blue Lagoon for a few relaxing hours in its hot waters before taking you to Keflavik to get ready for departure.

All good things must come to an end but we hope you have enjoyed your time exploring the very best that the island of Iceland has to offer. The rich natural beauty history and the people that make the country what it is.
