9-day Costa Rica adventure

Your driver will be waiting to meet you at the airport for a shared transfer to your hotel in San José. There, you'll receive an information pack and a warm welcome. Settle in and unwind after your journey. 

After breakfast, we set off for Pacuare River Gorge and an exciting day of white-water rafting. Your group will be given a full safety briefing and kit before riding the rapids through some breathtaking scenery. The first part of the river takes you along some fun Grade 2 and 3 rapids, gradually building to some wilder rides. Then, for the last five miles, the river opens up: you'll be able to sit back and observe the wildlife. Back on land, enjoy a drink at a local lodge before hitting the road to Arenal and checking in at your hotel. 

Once you've settled in, enjoy a free evening of relaxation after your energetic day afloat.

Today, once you've enjoyed breakfast at the hotel, you'll get out into the vivid forest and landscapes of Arenal. Choose between two different hikes: the first follows a trail around the base of the Arenal Volcano and up to an amazing lookout point. The second route takes you along hanging bridges in the forest to La Fortuna Waterfall. Here you can admire the cascade of water and take a refreshing dip in the river pool. Later, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel for another evening at leisure. 

Today you travel to the incredible Monteverde Cloud Forest. Setting off after breakfast, the journey will take around three hours on a shared transfer by minibus and boat. Cruise across Lake Arenal enjoying lovely views of the volcano and surrounding landscape. Arrive, then settle into your lodge.

After dark, you'll be heading out on a guided night walk in the forest to see and hear some of the nocturnal wildlife that dwell in this special place. 

Delve deeper into the magical world of the cloud forest on a morning walk. Your expert local guide will help you discover this unique habitat's incredible flora and fauna, perhaps seeing the famous quetzal bird among the trees.

In the afternoon, ride the Sky Tram up through the canopy of trees before embarking on a thrilling zipline adventure through the treetops. 

Later, return to your accommodation for a relaxed evening.

After one last breakfast in the forest, it's time to hit the road again. This time you'll be travelling to the Pacific Coast and spending some time on the beaches of Manuel Antonio National Park. The journey takes around four hours in a shared transfer. The route descends from Monteverde and runs along the Pan-American Highway, enjoying fantastic views across the Gulf of Nicoya.

Arrive, check in at your hotel and relax, or head out to discover the local bars and restaurants. 

After breakfast on the coast today, you'll take a sea kayaking and snorkelling adventure along the pristine coast of the Manuel Antonio National Park. Paddle along the glorious Quepos coastline to the lovely Biezans Beach and Bay. Here, you'll hop out for a swim and snorkel along the reef. Drinks and snacks are provided. You'll also paddle over to a nearby island to see seabird colonies, before finding a spot to enjoy a traditional lunch back in Quepos.

Later, return to your hotel and enjoy a peaceful afternoon and evening. 

After breakfast, meet your guide for a walking tour of the Manuel Antonio National Park. Your guide will lead you along a network of trails helping you to spot the park's wildlife. You'll almost certainly see several types of monkeys as well as sloths, butterflies, birds and a variety of insects. The rest of the day you'll be free to explore the park independently, perhaps spending some time on the unsurpassed beaches here. 

Later, head back to your hotel for a final night of relaxation by the coast.

After breakfast, begin your journey back to San José in good time for your homeward flight. This will be a private transfer of around 3.5 hours.
