Day 1: Cruising into Laos

Hello and welcome to beautiful Laos! On this first day of your journey you will be picked up from the Huay Xai border to start your adventure with a wonderful Shompoo cruise. Get ready to be fascinated and enjoy an amazing journey along the river, which includes several stops at traditional villages. This is your chance to observe rural life along the Mekong and be a participant to the daily life of some of the country's ethnic minorities and their talented craftsmanship.

Aboard your cruise ship you'll enjoy the luxury of eating local cuisine with lunch being served on board. The river cruise arrives at the pier near Pakbeng before sunset, giving you plenty of time to refresh and enjoy the scenery of the river. In the evening you have a chance to explore the neighborhood and grab dinner on your own before a relaxing night at a lodge.

Day 2: Along the Mekong to Luang Prabang

The cruise departs today for another great  day of nature discovery along this legendary river with two stops along the way to Luang Prabang. A few hours into the day, after enjoying the sights of granite cliffs and sparkling sandy shores, the river boat makes a stop to visit the hill tribe village of Baw,  where you can watch the traditional process of making Lao whiskey. Opposite the mouth of the Nam Ou River, near Pak Ou village, the cruise stops to visit the Tam Thing cave. See this amazing Cave and in it over 2500 astonishing Buddha statues. Throughout the day you'll get to enjoy the wide Mekong river scenery of mountains and wild nature, brim with local life. Finally, the cruise arrives at Luang Prabang, the impressive former imperial capital of Laos.

Day 3: Biking through the imperial capital

Start your day actively and get ready for a bike ride through amazing Phosi Market, the biggest in all of Luang Prabang.  Here you will find all sorts of vegetables, some of which you may have never even seen before in your life, and small stalls with Chinese style clothing, allowing you to go back home in (Chinese) style.

Afterwards, pay a visit to the beautiful temple Vat Mai, which literally means "Temple of 100,000 treasures". Do you want to learn more about Laos' ancient art? You can do just that at the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Center, which you will find inside a historical building preserved by UNESCO.  Last, but not least, In the afternoon you will get a chance to visit the gorgeous Royal Palace built in 1904, situated just nearby the Vat Mai temple.

Day 4: Turquoise water at Kuang Si Falls

Your journey through Laos continues today, where you will encounter a beautiful procession of monks in saffron robes walking to temples in search for offerings left by the faithful. After this truly fascinating experience you will get a chance to climb Phousi Mountain. All your efforts will be worth it when you are rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of the city. Worked up an appetite during that climb? That's great, because afterwards, you'll go to the market to grab some of the delicious local cuisine.

The highlight of today's varied activities are the Kuang Si Falls. With its stunning turquoise water, surrounded by rice fields and small villages, it  will surely take your breath away.  Feel free to dip into one of the many basins and simply enjoy this amazing holiday life.

Day 5: Exploring the Blue Lagoon

Your journey will remain aquatic with a visit to the beautiful riverside town of Vang Vieng first thing in the morning. Here you can go caving or perhaps just chill as you tube down the river, as it is popular with the locals. Next up on today's fun program is the Blue Lagoon, where you not just can but definitely should let out your inner child and simply jump and play and swim like there is no tomorrow, enjoying the water. Alternatively, you can choose to visit a village, that specializes in weaving in order to learn more about the local customs.

Day 6: A cave to be amazed by

Continue your exploration of Vang Vieng today when checking out one of its most important caves, the mysterious Tham Chang cave. Be amazed by the crystal water, that flows at the foot of the cave, and gaze in wonder from its entrance at the beautiful view of the village and rice fields.

On the way back we won't let you miss the opportunity to embark on a wonderful boat ride and en route visit a local fishing village located on one of the islands. Finally, go to the famous Don Mark Khai Market where local people gather to sell a whole assortment of fascinating things including amazingly large insects!

Day 7: Vientiane, a capital to remember

Don't be shocked, but this is already your very last day here in wonderful Laos. But don't worry, there is still time for one last great experience, when visiting Laos' capital. Vientiane has plenty of things for you to see and do, before your trip comes to an end. Visit the city's most famous buildings and really get an understanding of what it means to be from Laos and experience the pride the people have in their country here in its capital.

Finally, enjoy some last minute free time to yourself in this amazing country before your journey ends.  Though this is farewell, be assured that you will always remember your time here in Laos.
