Siem Reap - Siem Reap

Day 2: Amazing Angkor Wat in style

After breakfast, your guide will take you on a vintage Citroen tour to explore one of the most beautiful temple complexes in the world, Angkor Wat, a world heritage site from the 12th century. Expect a mystical experience of beautiful sculptures and stunning architecture.

After a short refreshment break, you will drive to Angkor Thom, with the spectacular 12th century Bayon. 54 four-headed Buddha statues provide exceptional photo opportunities. After a private picnic lunch, you will visit the Ta Phrom temple, an iconic temple, partly overgrown by trees and gigantic roots, which have ‘nestled’ themselves on and into the stone, making a truly striking visual image.

Back in your hotel, you’ll relax during a 60-minutes aromatherapy massage.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Kampong Khleang and the Floating Village in a Jeep

Siem Reap - Kampong Kleang

Day 3: Kampong Khleang and the Floating Village in a Jeep

You will leave Siem Reap town around 8.30am and set out in a wonderful vintage jeep into the beautiful countryside. Then, cycle along the flat, red, dirt roads through local villages and stop at a local fish market to observe traditional Khmer fish trade.

After more cycling and refreshments, you will visit the most impressive floating village Kampong Khleang. In the rainy season, you will explore the village by boat, before sharing a typical Khmer lunch with very friendly locals in their stilt home.

Afterwards, go to an island pagoda with a monk school and proceed to the Vietnamese floating village where you will see a school, a hospital, local shops, and even a hair dresser – all floating. The houses there are built on floating objects that move with the water! A spectacular sight indeed. On the way back to Siem Reap you’ll stop once more to further interact with friendly villagers.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Helicopter Flight and Phare Circus

Siem Reap

Day 4: Helicopter Flight and Phare Circus

In the morning you will see Angkor from a different perspective. You will fly over beautiful Angkor temples, Phnom Bok, the Rolous group and the floating village in a private helicopter.

In the evening you can visit Phare, the Cambodian Circus, which tells uniquely Cambodian tales using modern circus arts and high-energy music, touching on themes of Cambodian traditions, ethos, and spirit.

The performances mix theater, music, dance, acrobatics, juggling, aerial acts, fire and contortion with an explosion of virtuosity and sensitivity.

During the hour-long event, the Phare performers share their emotions and excitement, blowing the audience away with their integrity and power.

Meals: Breakfast
Boat ride from Siem Reap to Battambang

Siem Reap - Battambang

Day 5: Boat ride from Siem Reap to Battambang

Today you will leave Siem Reap and travel to Battambang. Depending on the water level of the river, your boat trip will take 5 to 8 hours. Boarding early in the morning will reward you with intense glimpses of life along the riverbanks. See people bathing, children fetching water and animals wading through this important source of life.

If the water level is too low, the boat trip is not possible and you’ll have to travel by taxi. This drive will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Naturally, the taxi is always available, should you prefer not to travel by boat. If you choose to take the taxi, you can leave later in the morning.

The coming days, you will stay at the Battambang Resort, a resort with hidden charm. Enjoy the salt-water swimming pool and the organic fruit and vegetable garden.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Explore Battambang

Battambang

Day 6: Explore Battambang

Start your tour with a ride on the famous bamboo train. After this unique experience, explore Battambang’s North and drive to the Ek Phnom Temple, built during the 11th century. Visit villagers and see how they make local products such as fish paste, sticky rice, rice wine, rice papers, noodles, and clay pots. While visiting the Well of Shadows, a monument to honor the people killed during the war and learn more about the Khmer Rouge.

After lunch, you’ll drive in a tuktuk across small villages and rice fields to the Phnom Sompov Mountain, about 140 meters high, with 800 steps leading to the top. Instead of climbing, take a motorbike halfway up the mountain to see temples, shrines, and killing caves used during Khmer Rouge.

Enjoy the vast and beautiful scenery and the view over Battambang. Then, walk down the steps and watch thousands of bats flying out of their caves at dusk.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Relax and Enjoy

Battambang

Day 7: Relax and Enjoy

You have a free day. You can borrow bicycles at the resort and explore the countryside on your own. Visit the city center or go to the only vineyard in the country. Climb the stairs at Wat Banan and have a great view or make a boat trip on the lake full of lotus flowers

Options are plenty and the people at the resort can help you arrange it. We can also recommend the snack tour arranged by the resort, where you will visit small local restaurants and learn more about Cambodian food, the way they prepare it and you will taste it of course.

Meals: Breakfast
Sunset Cruise on the Mekong River

Battambang - Phnom Penh

Day 8: Sunset Cruise on the Mekong River

Today, you will reach the lively capital Phnom Penh by private transportation. Although it cannot be compared to cities like Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, the city is in progress to becoming a modern metropolis.

Many high-rise buildings, projects under construction and busy roads make it a real capital city. At the end of the afternoon, you will get a different perception of the city while on a sunset cruise on the Mekong. From the water, you will see the skyline with - hopefully - an unforgettable sunset in the background.

Meals: Breakfast
City Tour with Cyclo and Tuktuk

Phnom Penh

Day 9: City Tour with Cyclo and Tuktuk

In the morning, a traditional Khmer Cyclo (bicycle powered tuk-tuk) will take you to the Royal Palace, where you can admire the spectacular ancient Khmer architecture.

Afterwards, you will visit Wat Phnom, where the name Phnom Penh derives from. This pagoda stands on a 35-meter high hill surrounded by trees and monkeys playing in their shadow.

Afterwards, you will ride by tuk-tuk to the Genocide Museum of Tuol Sleng, before continuing to Choeung Ek, better known as Killing Fields, where thousands of people were tortured and buried in mass graves. Although disturbing, these sites offer an insight into the country’s troubled past, enabling you to understand more about how far the wonderful people of this country have come.

On the way back we visit the huge Russian Market where you can shop for souvenirs to your heart's content.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Phnom Penh on your own and a Foodie Tour

Phnom Penh

Day 10: Phnom Penh on your own and a Foodie Tour

Today, you have the chance to explore the city and its surroundings at your own leisure. You can book a half-day bicycle tour on the Mekong islands, visit the former capital Oudong by boat, look behind the scenes of the Phnom Tamao Wildlife and Rescue Center, or get a ride on the backseat of a Vespa to less famous places in the city.

Later in the evening, you have the opportunity to join the foodie tour. After a cocktail or beer, you will be taken to a local market to try some tropical fruits, interesting desserts and delicious meats.

If you feel adventurous, you can also try some of the local insect delicacies! Here you will get an insight into Cambodia's often underestimated food scene, rich history and culture.

Finally, you will enjoy a traditional, delicious Khmer BBQ, with a few drinks of course.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
To the Coast

Phnom Penh - Kep

Day 11: To the Coast

After visiting three towns, you will go to a greener, hilly part of Cambodia. Kep is a little picturesque place on the coast of Cambodia, but cannot be called a seaside town.

It is especially known for the crab market, where fresh seafood is caught and sold daily. You can sample it in many local restaurants with ocean view.

During your days in Kep you will stay in Knai Bang Chatt. The stunning colonial villas are the centerpiece of an impeccably designed coastal resort which features plush rooms, an infinity pool overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, world-class cuisine and much more.

For the evening you will savor a private dinner at the end of the pier, surrounded by the ocean and romantic candlelight.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Mangrove planting and a secret lake

Kep - Kampot

Day 12: Mangrove planting and a secret lake

Today you will visit the Trapeang Sankea community. Here they have a special project to bring mangroves back to the coast. On a boat, you will go into the mangroves and can help to keep this project going!

You’ll get a baby mangrove plant and you can plant it yourself on the Kampot coastline. You can also take a short walk on a specially laid out footpath through the mangroves.

After this exciting activity, you will drive on small roads to the Secret Lake. Enjoy your lunch surrounded by stunning mountains.

In the afternoon, you’ll visit the famous Kampot Pepper plantation. The best pepper in the world comes from Kampot. You’ll learn everything about red, white and black pepper. There is also a school on the farm and you’ll get an explanation about the school system in Cambodia.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
A leisurely day in Kep

Kep

Will you take a stroll through the National Park, a trip to Rabbit Island, the colonial Kampot which is at a 20km distance, rent a motorcycle, climb the sides of mountains, or catch fish in the sea? These are just a few of the many possible options around Kep!

You can, of course, choose to rest and relax at the side of the swimming pool. In the late evening, you can enjoy a relaxing massage at Knai Bang Chatt. Let them know it you prefer a Khmer Massage, a Body Wrap or a facial treatment.
