Nagasaki
Day 1: Welcome to the island of Kyushu
Arrive at Nagasaki Airport and settle into your accommodation, as you work to overcome your jet lag and find your bearings on the island of Kyushu. Take a leisurely stroll through the charming streets of Nagasaki, where you'll witness a fascinating blend of Japanese and Western influences within both the architecture and culture.

Day 2: Mountain scenes & serene landscapes
Explore more of Nagasaki's history, visiting significant sites such as the Peace Park and Atomic Bomb Museum to deepen your understanding of its storied past. Then, travel from Nagasaki to Okawachiyama, a picturesque town surrounded by mountains and renowned for its traditional pottery-crafting heritage.
Continue today's itinerary by journeying into Saga, where you'll have time to take in the picturesque landscapes and wander amidst the tall pines of the 360-year-old, serene Nijinomatsubara forest, beautifully situated along the Karatsu coast.

Depart Fukuoka today for Beppu, a stunning city whose mountainous backdrop lends it an otherworldly appeal. Here, gaze in awe at the Eight Hells of Beppu - these hot springs are for viewing rather than bathing, but make for a dramatic display nonetheless - and ascend to Mount Yufu's peak to enjoy the panoramic views across the volcanic landscape.

Come evening, take a leisurely stroll through Kagoshima and experience the local atmosphere. From this coastal city, the views out to sea and the looming Sakurajima volcano in the distance are particularly mesmerising.

Day 9: Into the heart of Sakurajima
After contemplating Sakurajima from a distance, today you'll have the chance to set out on a day trip to this volcanic island, rife with unique features including volcanic craters and hot springs. Seek out its geological wonders and enjoy breathtaking views of Kagoshima Bay, before returning to the mainland to carry on exploring Kagoshima at your own pace.

Kagoshima - Yakushima
Day 10: The otherworldly forests of Yakushima
Today, take a ferry to Yakushima, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its ancient, moss-covered cedar forests. Embark on a full-day trek through the legendary forests, connecting with nature, witnessing the island's unique flora and fauna, and marvelling at some of the country's oldest trees. This otherworldly destination makes a very special way to spend your penultimate day on the island of Kyushu.

Yakushima - Kagoshima - Nagasaki
Day 11: A final day on Kyushu
From Yakushima, return to Kagoshima by ferry and continue on to Nagasaki for your departure flight. In the last hours of your trip, take time to reflect on the diverse experiences and memories you'll keep with you from your Kyushu adventure.
