Come evening, take a leisurely stroll through Kagoshima and experience the local atmosphere. From this coastal city, the views out to sea and the looming Sakurajima volcano in the distance are particularly mesmerising.

Day 9: Into the heart of Sakurajima

After contemplating Sakurajima from a distance, today you'll have the chance to set out on a day trip to this volcanic island, rife with unique features including volcanic craters and hot springs. Day 10: The otherworldly forests of Yakushima

Today, take a ferry to Yakushima, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its ancient, moss-covered cedar forests. Day 11: A final day on Kyushu
