Day 1: Welcome to Vilnius

After arriving in Vilnius, you'll be collected at the airport, then its just a short drive to your accommodation. There's time to settle in and unpack, ready to spend the next few days here.

Day 2: Explore Vilnius old & new

After breakfast, discover the old and new sides of this charming city full of history, culture, art, quirky neighbourhoods, and vibrant bars and restaurants with a local guide. Be steered through the UNESCO-llisted Old Town (one of the world's largest-surviving medieval examples), full of Baroque, Gothic, Neoclassical and Renaissance architecture, with landmarks at every turn. Enjoy sampling local craft beer at welcoming cafes, try some Lithuanian speciality foods and simply fall in love with this fascinating city.

After the tour, there's plenty of time to explore Vilnius in more depth. Take a walk to the Hill of Three Crosses or St Peter & St Paul’s Church. Learn about Vilnius' darker history at the Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights (KGB Museum). To end the day on a lighthearted note, head over to the unique Republic of Užupis, a creative community with its own president.

Day 3: Hot air balloon flight over Trakai

Today, it's time to join a small group for a spectacular balloon ride over Trakai, the Island Castle and surrounding countryside. This is an unforgettable experience, with options to choose sunrise or sunset trips. The package includes collection and return transport (from Vilnius or Trakai), making the experience as stress-free as possible. Afterwards, celebrate with a first flight certificate and a glass of sparkling wine to make the occasion truly memorable.

Day 4: Fascinating journey to Latvia

After breakfast, it's time to travel to Riga, the capital of Latvia, with some fascinating stops along the way.

Visit the extraordinary spectacle of the Hill of the Crosses, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and pilgrimage destination, then enjoy a stop at the wonderfully restored Rundale Palace. There's time to explore the palace and grounds of this baroque masterpiece before setting off on the final leg of the journey to Riga.

Arrive at the accommodation in plenty of time for the evening; find a spot for dinner and get a good night's sleep, ready for the next chapter of this adventure.

Day 5: Capital walking tour

After breakfast, explore Riga's UNESCO-listed Old Town with a local guide. Follow winding streets and cobbled alleys and discover the hidden past from 1201 to the present day. With churches that date back to the origins of the city, medieval buildings, unique examples of Art Nouveau, centuries-old wooden buildings and modern architecture, this is the perfect introduction to the city and its people.

Continue the tour to the Riga Central Market, one of Europe’s largest and built from five Zeppelin hangers left over from the First World War. After the tour, explore the market and find a local cafe for lunch.

The afternoon is free to explore more of Riga. Why not head to the Art Nouveau district or take a scenic boat ride along the canal? Spend the evening at one of the fabulous shows at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet or an organ concert at the Dome Cathedral.

Day 6: Kuldiga & surrounding countryside

Escape Riga for the day after breakfast on this joyous tour of the picturesque surrounding countryside, including a visit to the historic town of Kuldīga.

Discover the hidden villages of Kurzeme and all their quirks, and wander through the quaint streets of gorgeous and historic Kuldīga. Visit the widest-stretching waterfall in Europe before cooling off in the fascinating sandstone caves of Riežupe, then call in at a private straw doll exhibition.

This trip takes you off the beaten track for a true insight to this land, with local guides who make this trip particularly special. Enjoy their personal stories as they bring a youthful perspective on life in this wonderful region. This tour is optional. Riga offers plenty more to explore if preferred: other tours can be arranged on request (for an additional fee).

Day 7: Glimpse the past en route to Estonia

After breakfast this morning, say goodbye to Riga then set out on the beautiful road trip to Estonia, passing through the Gauja National Park. You'll be collected by your driver from the hotel and you'll make stops along the way for a glimpse into the past at the two beautiful castles of Turaida and Cesis. Be transported back to medieval times before continuing on to Tallinn, Estonia. Check in at your new hotel and relax, ready for tomorrow's discoveries.

Day 8: Tour the city

After breakfast, discover the beautiful capital Tallinn, a lively, charming and photogenic city, full of wonderful sights and rich culture. Join a knowledgeable local guide for a fun, history-packed tour of the Old Town, where modern life is juxtaposed with ancient.

Discover medieval streetscapes, noble merchants’ houses and churches, the historic town hall, and imposing city defences. The UNESCO-listed Old Town is one of the best preserved Hanseatic town centres in the world. You'll go from bustling main street to less-known side alleys, and see all the major sights of this medieval city.

Afterwards, there's plenty of time to explore the surrounding neighbourhoods. Stroll through tranquil Kadriorg park and palace, enjoy the cultural vibe in Telliskivi Creative city and the architecture of the Rotermann quarter. Noblessner seafront quarter is the perfect spot for dinner.

Day 9: Mesmerising forest & picturesque coast

Enjoy breakfast then get ready to explore the Estonian countryside on this visit to Lahemaa National Park.

Home to towering pine forests, picturesque coastline and mysterious bogs, this is a place of stories and legends that reveal much about the history of Estonia and its people. With experienced guides, journey from the biggest natural waterfall in Estonia to hidden manor houses like Kolga or Sagadi. Travel from mesmerising forests to romantic coastal villages like Käsmu and Altja. Hike through the Viru bog, following a wooden trail over 3.5kms of wetland. Prominent in Estonian folklore, bogs are places that drive the imagination: on warm summer days, the brave can swim in the bog lakes.

Return to your hotel to freshen up and enjoy your final evening of the trip in this wonderful city. Head out for dinner at one of the local restaurants and raise a toast to your adventures.
