Welcome to Egypt!

Day 1: Welcome to Egypt!

You will be met and assisted on arrival at Cairo International Airport by a guide who will accompany you to your hotel for check-in and offer you a free welcome drink. You will be introduced to your Tour Leader who will explain what to expect throughout the trip and will be your first point of contact.

After check-in you are free to spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Discover Cairo on your own or join the optional excursion to the Sound and Light Show on the Giza Plateau, by the magnificent Pyramids at Giza.

Day 2: Discovering the Pyramids

On your first day in Egypt you will enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then meet by your personal guide who will accompany you throughout the day.

Your first visit will be to the Giza Plateau to one of the seven wonders of the ancient world: The Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus, the famous Sphinx, and Valley temple facing the great statue. You will enjoy lunch at a good quality local restaurant and then travel onwards to discover the Egyptian Museum and the treasure room for the child king Tutankhamen. Next you will proceed to visit Mohamed Ali Alabaster Mosque inside the Citadel of Salah El Din. To round off the day, you will drive to Islamic Cairo, where you will be able to explore Khan El Khalili, Cairo’s old bazaar.

Day 3: A tour of Cairo's churches

After having seen the Islamic part of the city, today you will dedicate the day to discovering the churches of Cairo. You will start the tour with a visit to Old Cairo where you will find the oldest churches of the city: Hanging Church, Church of St. George and Church of Abu Serga.

You will continue your discovery to Church of St. Simon the Tanner and then proceed to visit Virgin Mary Church of Apparition, which was built in 1968 at Zeytoun. This church also hosts the tree that sheltered the Holy Family and will mark your last stop before heading back to your hotel.

Day 4: Wadi Natrun Tour

After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel. Today your trip takes you outside of the city! In a modern air-conditioned vehicle you will drive to Wadi El-Natrun, the actual birthplace for Christian monasticism. There used to be about 50 monasteries but only four of them have survived into modern times.

You will begin your visit at Deir al-Baramus which is the oldest of the surviving 4 monasteries, and in many ways the most isolated, then proceed to Deir Anba Bishoi monastery, which contains the relics of Pishoy, Paul of Tammah and those of other saints. You will end your trip with the visit of Deir El-Suryani, which is the smallest and most compact of the four monasteries.

Day 5: Flight to Luxor and start of the cruise

This morning you will check out from your hotel and drive to Cairo's airport to catch your flight to Luxor. Upon arrival in Luxor you will picked up at the airport and taken to the harbor, driving in an air-conditioned vehicle. It is time to board your Egypt Nile cruise!

After lunch on board, you will enjoy a visit to the impressive Karnak Temples and Luxor Temple and come back on board for dinner and an evening on the water.

Day 6: Luxor Nile Cruise Excursions

After breakfast on your cruise ship you will get back to land for a day excursion. Today you will visit the royal cemetery for 62 Pharaohs, Valley of the Kings and then the mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, which was built by the architects of the New Kingdom Pharaoh Hatshepsut in the 15th century BC. Afterwards, you will head to the Colossi of Memnon and board the cruise ship again.

While you enjoy lunch on board, you will sail to Edfu. The afternoon and dinner will be equally relaxing with such a sight from your ship's deck.

Day 7: Edfu and Kom Ombo Temples

On this third day on the water you will again enjoy a sumptuous breakfast before leaving the ship for a day trip. Overnight you arrived in Edfu and today you will visit the well-preserved Ptolemaic Temple dedicated to Horus.

Next, you will continue your journey sailing on to Kom Ombo to see the unique Temple of Sobek, dedicated to Sobek the Crocodile God and Horus the Falcon-headed God. You will board the cruise ship again for lunch and continue your trip along the Nile to Aswan. You will stay on board for dinner and another overnight cruise.

Day 8: Aswan Nile Cruise Tours

Today you will enjoy a day of sightseeing in Aswan. Start with the High Dam and the largest known ancient obelisk, located in the northern region of the stone quarries of ancient Egypt, called the Unfinished Obelisk, proceeding to the beautiful Temple of Philae, which is devoted to the two Goddesses Isis and Hathor.

In the afternoon you will visit St. Simeon Monastery, one of the largest and best preserved Coptic monasteries in the whole country. You will again retire to your cruise ship for dinner and an overnight stay.

Flight back to Cairo

Aswan - Cairo

Day 9: Flight back to Cairo

After four days on the water, it is time to disembark from your Nile cruise ship after breakfast. In Aswan you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight to Cairo. Upon in arrival in Cairo your guide and driver will pick you up and take you to the hotel for a last night in Egypt.

Day 10: Goodbye, Cairo!

On the last morning in Cairo you can again enjoy breakfast at your hotel and depending on your flight schedule say goodbye to Cairo with a last stroll through its narrow alleys. When it's time to leave, you will be transferred to Cairo International Airport for your final departure.
