Today you'll leave Lima behind and fly to Cusco, where on arrival, you'll transfer to your hotel. To help you acclimatize to the altitude, enjoy a refreshing coca herbal tea and take some time to relax.

In the afternoon, take a guided tour of key landmarks in the city, beginning with the magnificent cathedral, a historic masterpiece located in the Main Square. Continue to the Temple of the Sun (Qorikancha) and the awe-inspiring fortress of Sacsayhuaman, renowned for its colossal stone structures and remarkable Inca architecture.

Perhaps start in the historic center, strolling along cobbled streets and admiring colonial architecture. Visit bustling markets and browse the stalls for souvenirs, before delving into the local heritage across museums and art galleries. And don't forget lunch; from traditional Peruvian cuisine to international flavors, the city offers a wide range of dining options to satisfy every palate.

Later in the day, take in breathtaking views of Cusco from viewpoints like Sacsayhuaman or Cristo Blanco, capturing the essence of this magnificent city nestled in the Andes.

Day 9: Depart Cusco for La Paz

Say goodbye to Cusco as you transfer from the hotel to the airport for your flight to La Paz, the shining Bolivian capital. Another transfer service awaits there, to take you to your hotel for check-in. Take advantage of your free time here to rest and recharge before your upcoming adventure to the Uyuni Salt Flat.

Day 10: Explore Bolivia's surreal salt flat

Today, you'll embark on a fascinating journey to the Uyuni Salt Flat. Along the way, visit the unique Train Cemetery and town of Colchani; witness the traditional process of salt extraction by hand, and browse local salt handicrafts to take home with you.

Next, explore the Playa Blanca and marvel at the captivating Ojos de Sal ("Salt Eyes"), intriguing exit points for saltwater. Traverse this expansive landscape and witness the mesmerizing geometric shapes of salt hexagons scattered across the salt flat. A highlight of the trip is a visit to Incahuasi Island, situated at the heart of the salt flat; it boasts a remarkable ecosystem adorned with towering giant cacti as tall as 12m.

Enjoy a picnic lunch on the salt flat and bask in the incredible scenery. Then, as the sun begins to drop, you'll return to the hotel for the evening.

Day 11: Another day of touring the Uyuni salt flat

Set out on another expedition to explore the north side of the Uyuni Salt Flat. First you'll stop at the Coquesa Mummies, to discover ancient human archaeological remains nestled within a small cave near the majestic Tunupa Volcano. From this vantage point, the panoramic views of the vast salt flat are a treat and a chance to really appreciate their immense scale.

Continue to the remarkable Chiquini Cave, adorned with stunning stalactites and stalagmites, then indulge in a delicious lunch - either at a local restaurant or a delightful picnic in a picturesque spot.

Visitors keen on photography who visit between April and November (dry season) will have the unique opportunity to play with perspective, capturing creative and memorable shots of the expanse of the salt flat.

Uyuni - Lima

If time allows, take the morning to explore Lima, before your airport transfer and onward flight to Quito. On arrival into the Ecuadorian capital, you'll take another transfer to your hotel for check-in.

Quito occupies a vast expanse of land stretching across a highland valley. From its UNESCO-listed old town to its panoramic views, the city promises a captivating visit with a blend of colonial architecture, bustling markets, and vibrant neighborhoods to discover.

Exhilarating experiences of Ecuador continue today with an ascent of the Pichincha volcano via the TelefériQo Cable Car. Later, you'll join a shuttle bus from Quito to the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve. Enjoy some rest time here before boarding a bus at 10.30pm and journeying overnight to El Puente, ready to delve into the untouched wonder of the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest.

Day 18: Journey into the Amazon rainforest

Arrive in El Puente, the primary gateway to the Cuyabeno Reserve and the last outpost of civilization.

Embark on a captivating journey along the Cuyabeno River aboard a motorized canoe to reach your lodge. En-route, perhaps glimpse some of the remarkable wildlife inhabiting this region, including 10 distinct species of monkeys and a plethora of tropical birds. This section of the river is relatively narrow, affording up-close observation of the abundant fauna.

Once at the lodge, ample time will be provided for relaxation before an introductory tour of the lodge surroundings. Settle down for dinner, after which you'll be introduced to your local guide and activities program.

Day 19: The heart of the Cuyabeno Reserve

Gear up for an immersive exploration of the vibrant Cuyabeno Reserve. Take advantage of the prime morning hours to witness the bustling activities of the tropical forest. Continue your canoe trip along the picturesque Cuyabeno River towards the Laguna Grande. Discover the extraordinary ecosystem of the flooded forest (igapó), adorned with towering trees and lush greenery. Explore the lagoon, taking in its natural splendor, and enjoy a refreshing swim in the tranquil waters as the sun sets. Then, rejoin your canoe to explore the nocturnal rainforest, before returning to the lodge for the night.

Day 21: Another day of rainforest discoveries

Today brings a choice of excursions, either by canoe or hiking, allowing a more tailored experience based on your interests and the weather conditions.

Set off on your chosen tour with an expert guide. Discover the profound wisdom of the region's cultures as you learn about the medicinal uses of the local flora and fauna, a tradition passed down through generations. Return to the lodge afterwards for lunch and a well-deserved rest.

In the afternoon, continue your adventure by canoe, traversing the extraordinary Cuyabeno River. Absorb the breathtaking panoramas surrounded by the mesmerizing sounds of the jungle.

Day 22: See the stunning sunrise from a canoe

Start the day with a tranquil canoe trip to witness the stunning sunrise over the jungle. Take advantage of this peaceful moment to observe diverse wildlife and embrace the serenity of this natural paradise.

After breakfast, pack and get ready for your return journey. Retrace the route to El Puente de Cuyabeno, and bid farewell to the remarkable Cuyabeno Reserve. From Lago Agrio, commence your return to Quito.

Day 23: Journey to the Galapagos Islands

This morning, fly from Quito to the Galapagos' Baltra Airport. On arrival, transfer to Puerto Ayora, taking a detour to a local farm in the highlands for your first encounter with giant tortoises. Stroll amongst these magnificent creatures and appreciate their true grandeur.

Stop for lunch before continuing the journey to your hotel for check-in. In the afternoon, visit the Charles Darwin Research Station; there, you'll witness the important work carried out by international scientists dedicated to environmental projects in the Galapagos.

Explore the adjacent Fausto Llerena Breeding Center, a hub for the breeding and conservation of giant Galapagos tortoises. This center provides valuable insights into the conservation efforts for these incredible creatures. It offers a great chance to observe various tortoise species and learn about their unique characteristics.

Santa Cruz

Day 24: A coastal kayaking adventure

Begin the day with a scenic 45-minute hike from Puerto Ayora to Tortuga Bay, a heavenly destination renowned for its breathtaking scenery and soft coral sand.

Explore the marine world up-close on a kayak adventure. Observe marine iguanas, birdlife, and the beauty of the mangroves, cacti forests, and vibrant flora. Keep an eye out for pelicans and finches, and perhaps catch a glimpse of flamingos wandering near the salt lagoon and mangroves.

After an exhilarating kayak trip, relax and sunbathe on the pristine beach before returning to Puerto Ayora. In the afternoon, embark on a boat tour along the bay of Santa Cruz. Snorkel alongside sea lions and tropical fish; explore the shark channel, where harmless whitetip sharks and blue-footed boobies can be seen; and spot turtles in the Canal del Amor. Day 25: Snorkeling paradise at Los Tuneles

Today you'll venture to Los Tuneles, a destination that promises to be unforgettable. Located in the Cabo Rosa lava tunnels, this snorkeling paradise is accessed with a one-hour speedboat ride from Puerto Villamil.

On the approach, marvel at the remarkable geological formations that have emerged from successive lava flows, creating enchanting arcs and tunnels above and below the water's surface. These formations make Los Tuneles a haven for exploration.

Enter the shallow waters and prepare to be amazed by the diverse array of marine life. Spot tropical fish, rays, turtles, sea horses, and whitetip reef sharks; you might even find yourself swimming alongside majestic sea turtles. The area is also home to penguins perched on rocks, adding to the magic of this experience. 

Isabela - Santa Cruz

Day 26: A free day on Santa Cruz

Today is free for you to shape your own adventure! Perhaps begin on Isabela Island, visiting Concha Perla Beach for a snorkeling experience, or renting a bike and explore the intriguing Wall of Tears. Alternatively, dedicate the entire day to Santa Cruz, which you'll return to via a convenient speedboat ride to Puerto Ayora.

Day 27: Uninhabited island exploration

Explore the unspoiled beauty of the Galapagos Islands, with the chance to visit Santa Fé, South Plaza, Bartolomé, or North Seymour (the exact destination is determined by the daily permit granted by the National Park authorities).

As you set sail, drink in the awe-inspiring views of the turquoise waters and rocky shorelines. Reaching the island, set out on an invigorating hike accompanied by expert guides, to discover untouched natural habitats and encounter marvelous flora and fauna.

Enjoy lunch, relax on pristine beaches, and swim in the crystal-clear water before returning to Puerto Ayora.

Day 28: Departure day

If you have some extra time before heading to the airport, take a leisurely stroll through Puerto Ayora for some last-minute souvenir shopping. Then, head to the pier for a ferry crossing of the Itabaca Channel to Baltra. Connect with the airport shuttle bus service, reaching the airport in time for your onward travel.
