Detailed Itinerary

Enjoy a Warm Welcome to Cambodia

Siem Reap

Day 1: Enjoy a Warm Welcome to Cambodia

Welcome to Cambodia. We will pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel, where you will be offered a welcome drink by a tour representative, who will give you a briefing about Cambodia and the fantastic trip that awaits you.

In the afternoon, your tour guide will show you the center of the bustling river town of Siem Reap. You can have a stroll through the market, get a “fish massage” or have a quick overview of the city; whatever you prefer. We will also take you to a pagoda where you can learn more about Buddhism and receive a blessing from one of the resident monks.

The Stunning Angkor Wat Temple Complex

Siem Reap - Angkor Wat

Day 2: The Stunning Angkor Wat Temple Complex

After breakfast, set off with your guide in a tuk-tuk to explore one of the largest and most beautiful temple complexes in the world, Angkor Wat complex. This world heritage site originates from the 12th century and provides a mystical experience of beautiful sculptures and stunning architecture.

First, visit the stunning Angkor Wat temple itself where we will explore the wonderful site with all of its majesties. After a short refreshment break, you will take the short drive to Angkor Thom, which contains, among others, the spectacular 12th century Bayon. The 54 four-headed Buddha statues are one of the most impressive sights of the temple complex.

Later, we will visit the Ta Phrom temple. This iconic temple remains partly overgrown with trees and gigantic roots, that have ‘nestled’ themselves on and in the stone blocks.

Tonight, enjoy a dinner show based on village life.

Day 3: Vintage Jeep Ride into the Countryside

Set out in a vintage jeep this morning to explore the countryside. Upon arrival, cycle along flat, red dirt roads through local villages, stopping at the local fish market to observe traditional Khmer fish trade. After more cycling and refreshments you will visit one of the most impressive floating villages in Cambodia – Kampong Khleang.

In rainy season you will board a boat to explore the village before sharing a typical Khmer lunch with friendly locals in their stilt home. Afterward, you will visit an island pagoda with a monk’s school. Next, you will proceed to the Vietnamese floating village where you will see the floating school, a hospital, local shops, and even a hairdresser. The houses there are built on floating objects that rise and fall with the water! A spectacular sight indeed.

Day 5: Venture to the Tranquility of Battambang

Today, you will travel to Battambang. In the rainy season, you can choose to journey by boat. Depending on the water level of the river, the trip will last for 5 to 8 hours. Having to rise early is rewarded with a beautiful boat trip that allows you to intensely enjoy life on the riverbanks. You will see people bathing, children fetching water and animals wading through this important source of life.

If the water level is too low, the boat trip is unfortunately not possible and you’ll have to travel by taxi. This drive will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Naturally, the taxi is always available should you prefer not to travel by boat.

Tonight, you will stay at a hotel with a nice swimming pool and a rustic palm garden.

On the way, we will stop to visit the villagers and see how they produce local products such as fish paste, sticky rice, rice wine, rice papers, noodles, and clay pots which are commonly used in the countryside to collect rainwater. We will also get a chance to learn more about the Khmer Rouge when we visit the Well of Shadows, a monument to honor the people killed during the war. After lunch, we drive through small villages and between rice fields in our tuktuk towards Phnom Sompov Mountain where we will visit temples, shrines, and killing caves used during the Khmer Rouge period.

The many high-rise buildings projects under construction and busy roads make it a real capital city.

In the late afternoon, you will get a different perspective of the city while on a sunset cruise on the Mekong. From the water, you will see the skyline with, hopefully, an unforgettable sunset in the background.
