Later, we begin our journey towards Uyuni, crossing the Frailes Mountain range. Uyuni is a remote town at the border of the Salar, around three to four hours drive away. Our excursion continues to the Sol de Mañana Geysers (4850m). Next, we’ll be skirting the Laguna Salada and crossing the Dali Desert, so named because the scenery is reminiscent of one of the painter’s surreal artworks. We reach several more colourful lakes at the foot of the volcanoes Juriques and Licancabur (5960m) Finally, we traverse the magnificent landscapes of the Siloli Desert and its famous Arbol de Piedra (Stone Tree) and reach your new hotel in time for dinner and a relaxing evening.

The Honda, Ch’arkota, Hedionda and Cañapa lakes are home to three species of colourful flamingo. Along the way, we stop for lunch and we'll also take time to visit the Ollagüe Volcano viewpoint (5868m). This volcano is still active and shelters one of the world’s highest open-pit copper mines. We then cross the small Salar de Chiguana salt flats located at the foot of the Tomasamil Volcano (5900m).
