Welcome to Paro

Day 1: Welcome to Paro

Fly into Paro valley on any of our national carriers. You will have a glorious view of the snow-capped mountains from your window side. The remarkable and steep descent into the Paro valley is an awe-inspiring beginning to an adventure of a lifetime. Paro is the gateway to Bhutan, home to the only international airport.  

This is where you begin your journey to the land of happiness. After visa formalities and collection of baggage, you will be greeted by us.

Hike to Dragey Pangtsho Lake

Day 2: Hike to Dragey Pangtsho Lake

Today will be an amazing day for you hiking amid the meadows, mountains, and lakes. Located at an altitude of 4300 meters above sea level, lies the stunning hidden lake also known as Dragay Pangtsho Lake. Start the drive from your hotel to the glorious Drugyel dzong and drive further through the farm road to Bojana gompa (monastery), which will be around an hour and half hours drive. After 2 hours hike from the monastery, you will be reaching the base camp, which is an alluring meadow with horses and the soothing sounds of the chirping birds.

You can have some hot coffees and teas while enjoying the serenity of the mountains and meadows blissfully. Continuing with the hike further for 4 more hours, you will finally be greeted by the mesmerizing views of the gigantic lake where you will spend the night.

Drive to Thimphu - the Capital City

Day 3: Drive to Thimphu - the Capital City

We will wake up to the views of the glorious mountains and beautiful meadows.

After the breakfast is prepared by the professional chefs, we will be walking down to the monastery, where your driver and car will be waiting for you. After driving for a few hours, you will be arriving at Thimphu - The capital city of Bhutan.

After a shower at your hotel and lunch of traditional Bhutanese cuisine with a mix of the entertaining cultural shows especially for you, we will go to visit the majestic Tashichho Dzong( fort) - which has been the seat of the government since 1952 and it presently houses the throne room and offices of the king. It will be a treat for you to see the king's palace from the entrance of the fort.

Day 4: Thimphu City Tour

Thimphu is the capital city of Bhutan, it combines a natural small-town feel with a new commercial exuberance that constantly challenges the country's natural conservatism and Shangri La image. Thimphu has some cafes, bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. Finding a balance between the esoteric and espresso – the old and the new – is the key to getting the most out of this charming city.

Today, You will be visiting the gigantic Buddha statue of 169ft which is built-in bronze and gilded gold overlooking the southern part of Thimphu. The panoramic view of the whole Thimphu city and hills never fails to cease the viewer's eyes. The road to Buddha Point is the avenue for people from all walks of life. You will find many locals running or walking along the way, trying to keep themselves healthy and fit amid the busy work life.

Drive to Punakha - Palace of Bliss

Dochu La Pass - Chimmi Lhakhang - Punakha

Day 5: Drive to Punakha - Palace of Bliss

Today, we will be driving to Punakha valley, which is around 3 hour journey by car. After 45 minutes drive, you will be reaching the Dochula pass(3100 meters). You can get spectacular views of the high Himalayan Mountain ranges. Many colorful prayer flags of good fortune and the marvelous sight of the 108 stupas all together add to the exotic scenery of the place.

A short walk will bring you to Drukwangyal Lhakhang. After reaching Punakha, you will be visiting the Fertility temple. You will be quite alarmed at the painting of phallus on the houses surrounding the temple. The phallus is actually a weapon of the divine madman who visited Bhutan in the 15th century from Tibet and preached Buddhism and even subdued many demons harming the people of Bhutan.

Hike to Kabji Hoka Tsho Lake

Punakha - Punakha Dzong - Kabji Hoka Tsho

Day 6: Hike to Kabji Hoka Tsho Lake

The trail towards the Tsho starts from Chorten Nyingbo, the winter residence of Trulku Gyaltsey Tenzin Rabgye. This stunning and tranquil lake is hidden amidst the thick jungle vegetation and it is considered one of the best and a must-visit places in Punakha for an excursion.

The Punakha Kabji Hoka Tsho stands at an elevation of 2130 m above sea level and it will take around 2 to 3 hours for you to reach the mesmerizing vast lake bloomed by the petals of pristine mountains. The lake is one of the largest lakes in Bhutan. The lake is also one of the best places for a day hike. You will be hiking through lush floras with soothing sounds of chirping birds. Surrounded by the forest and mountains, you will get closer to nature as you breathe the fresh air and acknowledge the hospitality of nature. As you drag yourself back home, there would always be a promise of visiting again later, if not soon.

Phobjikha- The Valley of Black Necked Cranes

Day 7: Phobjikha- The Valley of Black Necked Cranes

Today you will drive to Phobjikha valley. It is famous for the endangered Black Necked Cranes. These cranes migrate here from Central Asiatic Plateau to escape the harsh winter.

It is often called the most beautiful valley in Bhutan aka true Shangri la. You won't find trinket shops, museums or places of attractions here.

Even the school in the middle of the valley was moved to make way for the Black Necked Cranes conservation area. You will be visiting Sobsokha village: This is a typical Bhutanese village where you will see the farmers doing their daily activities on their farms and houses and as you drive down the valley you will see many yak herders camp and nomad families at work.

Phobjikha - Simtokha Dzong - Paro

Day 8: Drive back to Enchanting Paro Valley

Today you will drive to Paro after lunch at Phobjikha. The charming valley of Paro comprises both the ancient as well as the modern face of Bhutan.

Paro is the home to some of the oldest and most revered temples in Bhutan. This is where the famed Tiger Nest Monastery is located. You can enjoy some traditional Bhutanese herbal hot stone baths at Paro in order to get relaxed or you can get a good massage from a professional masseuse at any salon in Paro town.

You can go around the town for shopping some souvenirs for your loved ones back home or you can enjoy the nightlife of Paro valley. Paro has some nice modern cafeterias, pubs & clubs and you let your driver drive to the viewpoint, where you can see the airport full of lights below the mighty mountains.

Day 9: Hiking Tigers Nest - the Icon of Bhutan

Today is the big day, hike to the famous Tiger’s Nest. No trip in Bhutan would be complete without the hike to Tigers Nest monastery. Shrouded in mystery and myths with stories of numerous miracles associated with the monastery.

From great saints to famous Hollywood celebrities, not to forget the Prince of England to the Princess of Japan have hiked to witness the hidden beauty of this icon of Bhutan, which is perched at the edge of a cliff at 3120m above sea level. The hike to the temple is an awe-inspiring journey that will amaze you with its beauty and charm.

With glorious views of Paro valley amid the hike to the entrance of the monastery with alluring waterfalls is a treat for you and your camera.
