We cannot recommend TravelLocal highly enough! [Our local expert] Natalia worked closely with us by email to customize every detail of our 19-day journey according to our interests and preferences. The resulting itinerary was extraordinary, taking us from Mexico City through Valladolid, Mérida, Campeche, Palenque, San Cristóbal de las Casas, and Oaxaca. It offered a perfect balance of archaeological sites (including Teotihuacán, Chichén Itzá, Uxmal, Palenque, and Monte Albán) and meaningful cultural, culinary, and community-based experiences.

Eduardo expertly coordinated all our transportation and day-to-day logistics. We always felt supported and knew that answers to any questions were only a quick WhatsApp message away. Matthew Nankivel’s trip to Uganda

Choosing Uganda for our safari was hands down one of the best travel decisions we have ever made. The entire experience surpassed every expectation, anchored by the unforgettable mountain gorilla habituation in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest—spending extended time up close with a wild gorilla family is something truly magical. Beyond the gorillas, the variety of wildlife experiences was incredible, from on-foot rhino tracking and chimpanzee trekking to thrilling game drives across the savannas and an unforgettable night drive seeing lions hunt.​

The accommodations throughout the journey were top-tier, but our absolute favorite was the camp right inside Queen Elizabeth National Park along the Ishasha River, where falling asleep to the sounds of the African wilderness made the stay unforgettable. None of this would have been the same without our driver-guide, Tonny, who was phenomenal. His sharp eye for spotting wildlife, deep knowledge of the country, and warm, patient presence made the travel days seamless and deeply engaging.​

Beyond the wildlife, the cultural visits and village tours added a rich, personal dimension to the trip. We would strongly advise future travelers to carry plenty of cash to purchase crafts and support local businesses directly. If you have extra room in your luggage, bringing along children’s clothing and sweets to share in the villages is a wonderful way to give back to the communities. Uganda is a breathtaking country, and we cannot recommend it highly enough!

Elaine Jeffery’s trip to Mongolia

Crystal at TravelLocal was a tremendous support. As I was not doing a group tour, I had done a lot of reading and had specific places I wanted to see. Crystal was great about juggling the timing and fitting in all the things on my wish list. Both the drivers were excellent. I am in awe as to how Hagy found his way across the Gobi with no roads to follow and camels and goats roaming free.

My cooking class was amazing. My hostess showed me how to make a special pasta. We rolled it out and cut circles then stuffed the circles with ground goat, onion, salt and garlic. After forming dumplings we put those in goat broth and had a very tasty soup. Iolnia also sells felted wool products. She helped me to make a cell phone purse with sheep’s wool and camel thread. I also bought felted camels from her and just enjoyed her company.

My guide, Nara, was excellent. She happily shared information about her culture; explained traditions and how Mongolia is adapting to modern times. I have some physical challenges and found some of the spots difficult, but I made it to the top of the Chinggis Khan statue and up and down hills with a little help and careful planning. I would highly recommend TravelLocal. I used this same company when visiting South Africa three years ago. The knowledge of local planners makes a big difference.

Ibrahim Zardawi’s trip to Turkey

Our journey through Türkiye has been nothing short of extraordinary, and much of that unforgettable experience is owed to the exceptional professionalism, warmth, and dedication of TravelLocal, and especially our remarkable organiser, Buse. From the very moment we landed in İzmir, we were treated not merely as tourists, but as honoured guests. Every single person connected with our journey demonstrated genuine kindness, attentiveness, and hospitality of the highest order. It is exceedingly rare nowadays to encounter a travel company that combines efficiency, luxury, cultural depth, and heartfelt human care so seamlessly, yet this team managed to exceed every expectation we had, and then surpass even those.

The guides and drivers throughout our tour were absolutely outstanding. Their knowledge of Türkiye’s history, culture, politics, archaeology, geography, and contemporary life was deeply impressive. What truly distinguished them, however, was not simply the breadth of information they possessed, but the balanced, thoughtful, and engaging manner in which they shared it. At no point did anything feel rehearsed or superficial. Every story carried authenticity and nuance, making the experience intellectually enriching as well as emotionally memorable. By the end of this trip, we genuinely felt as though we had undertaken a postgraduate-level immersion into the magnificent past and vibrant present of this beautiful country.

Equally unforgettable was the warmth of the Turkish people themselves. Everywhere we travelled, from historical sites to coastal towns and mountain regions, the locals greeted us with friendliness, generosity, and genuine curiosity. Türkiye is, without question, one of the most underrated destinations in the world. It possesses an astonishing richness of history and civilisation, breathtaking archaeological treasures, and some of the most diverse and spectacular natural scenery imaginable. From dramatic mountain landscapes to the mesmerising turquoise waters of the Mediterranean coast, the country continually amazed us at every turn.

This journey also held special personal significance for us, as it coincided with our sixth wedding anniversary. We could not have chosen a better company to entrust with such an important occasion. We wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend them to anyone seeking an authentic, luxurious, intellectually enriching, and deeply memorable experience in Türkiye. Without hesitation, we award them five stars. In truth, if there were a higher rating available, they would deserve that too.

Catherine McDonald’s trip to Morocco

We loved Morocco! Our family of seven traveled after Christmas and through New Years to this wonderful country. The people and culture are very hospitable and always happy to welcome and help you any way they can. Immersing yourself in the architecture, colors, sights, sounds and smells, the varied topography, the riads, kasbahs and especially the people and culture was joyfully intoxicating.

A few months prior to our trip, TravelLocal put me in contact with our local Moroccan travel planner, Hamid. He worked with me in getting to know our family and our interests and in planning our trip from start to finish including transportation, accommodations, activities, guides and some meals. Having Hamid’s expertise on what would be of interest to our family as well as knowing how to lay out the itinerary based on distance, travel times etc. was wonderful.

Our trip was seamless from the moment we landed. Our driver for the 10 days we were there was Rachid who was so accommodating and patient with us. Having a driver who was skilled and knew how to navigate the streets of Marrakech as well as traveling throughout the countryside was essential to the ease, relaxation and enjoyment of our time spent there. You don’t realize how much energy and frustration is normally spent on organizing daily transportation until you experience not having to do so.

Rachid also was our interpreter when we needed that, kept us to our scheduled itinerary (even when I am sure we tested his patience being late several mornings), and all around country guide. He was born and grew up in Morocco and explained to us the various people and history that make up this beautiful country. He was always in contact with Hamid who was keeping tabs on where we were and in contact with our scheduled guides, activities and accommodations to alert them ahead of time as to our arrival such that it was seamless. These behind the scenes destination management just makes the entire experience that much better.

Alla Rosca and Ed Chervenak’s trip to India

My husband and I recently completed a fantastic 11-day, five-city tour of India, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. Even before the trip began, we were able to connect directly with a company representative, who patiently answered all of our questions. Throughout the trip we visited magnificent forts, palaces, temples, and memorials that we likely would not have discovered or fully appreciated on our own. The logistics were handled seamlessly from start to finish: every transfer, hotel, and connection worked exactly as planned, and the hotel accommodations were excellent throughout. Each excursion reflected careful planning and meticulous attention to detail.

The guides, selected locally in each of the cities we visited: Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur, were knowledgeable, friendly, and highly professional, making every stop both informative and enjoyable. Choosing local guides was an excellent managerial decision, as they know their cities’ historical sites intimately and enriched the narrative with local details and perspectives we would never have found in a guidebook.
