Many varied eco systems from rain forests, cloud forests, volcanoes and some historical and cultural interest in San Hose. We had the opportunity to learn about the country’s development and reforestation projects. It would have been interesting to learn a little more about the few indigenous tribes hat remain.
Mariana was very helpful and knowledgable and we would highly recommend her. She was accessible and wanting to help. She dealt most efficiently in sending our vouchers to us which had been left in SAN hose SHe took on board when there were problems with the tours and changes that Danta Lodge made regarding hikes. The one disappointing thing was the delay it took TravelLocal's local partner to respond to our forthcoming concerns about Danta lodge where it took them from Sunday to thurday to respond and come up with alternative accommodation which was too late as we had already spent a night there and had trips arranged for the two days. Recognising their mistake they made amends in other ways which was appreciated.
The response of 4-5 days to our concerns re the accommodation should have been dealt with prior to us going to Danta lodge. Initial request had been fir 4 star accommodation and we should have been informed that it was not available or at lease say we were being quoted for 3 star accommodation. We accept the booking was made about a month prior to departure but the websites the exile travel provided for the nite,s did not indicate he standard of accommodation.
on the whole the guides were very good and gave us much information about their country and would draw on their own experiences overseas to make comparisons. The Pineapple , night walk, Monteverdi and coffee tour together with Park at Manuel Antonio were very good. The guide at Arenal volcano could have been more communicative and the guide at Danta Corcovado touched briefly on the indigenous tribes but could not expand on this. He could have interacted with us more and on the return trip to our hotel spent his time continuously biting his nails.... The quetzal guide was disappointing as we spent the first hour from 6-7 am wondering around in the cold! before he said we would go and see the quetzal nest and birds. This could have stared at 7am as they knew where we would see the quetzals.
Probably two weeks would be sufficient. In some ways the last two Venus-Danta lodge and trogon lodge were less interesting venues.
Enjoying the walking and the pinapple farm where the guide was outstanding. Manuel Antonio was great as we saw many different species but it is somewhere the species are concentrated!
