Fantastic Trip - perfect mix of exercise, culture, relaxion and luxury. Perfect.

This trip was brilliantly organised by Jose. An overnight in Bogota with a speedy trip into town to eat Tamales and visit the extraordinary Museo de Oro, and then we were flown off to Pereira - (the coffee region). Stayed in a gorgeous hotel called Sazagua surrounded by humming birds and amazing ceviche. Went to see round a coffee plantation which was a lot of fun (particularly being tested on the 35 flavour profiles) if a little far from the hotel. Great cooking class and we were all given ollas (excellent cooking pots) to take home. I loved it here. We then did an extraordinary (and knackering) 12 mile walk up to a farm in the Cocora valley. This was a proper walk, we should really have been better equipped, but the guides were great and lent us what we needed. The farm where we stayed overnight was breath-taking and the next day we walked back down. As you climb 1000 mtrs during day 1 it really is tiring, but the guides were sensible about stopping and telling us how to breathe properly. I was really glad we did it and I think that was the highlight of our trip. We then flew to Cartagena for New Year's eve which was also amazing. Great city, so buzzy and the kids loved it. Spent the next day wandering about (try the Limonada de Hierbabuena, it's like a virgin mojito) and then got the boat to Isla Grande where we snorkelled, snoozed in hammocks, dodged falling Iguanas and totally relaxed. Thank you Jose for planning and organising such a fantastic mix of different vibes and activities. Was the highlight the walk, or perhaps the 45 minute snorkel? On balance the whole thing was a highlight. Totally and unconditionally recommended. Harry, Caroline and Emily (21), Joe (18) and Edie (13).

What was good about our local partner based in Colombia?

Local guides were informative and interesting. They were always on time, and always had what we needed. It was great having our boarding passes for the internal flights printed out. That didn't happen on the island so we had to check ourselves in for the return flight to Bogota! That's how spoiled we were.

What could our local partner based in Colombia improve on?

Not much. The hotel in Salento wasn't quite as amazing as everywhere else. Otherwise no complaints at all

What did you think about the guides or drivers on your trip?

Really liked all of them. We spoke Spanish to them so can't comment on their English, but they were all happy to speak it when required.

What advice would you give to other travellers planning a trip to Colombia?

Trust José. Take proper walking boots.

What was the most memorable part of your trip?

All of it.
