Blissfully restful

This was my second trip to India with TravelLocal. I had already enjoyed the splendour of Rajistan, Agra and Dehli, so this time I asked Nutan for a more restful trip to Kerala. After a few exchanges of messages to narrow down the suggestions she made, we settled upon this trip. Everything was as I had been led to expect. I was met off the plane in Cochin and introduced to my driver, Santosh. He was immediately helpful in both finding somewhere to change money to spending the time before I could check into my hotel. Throughout the trip Santosh was unobtrusively there to take me from place to place, chat about the regions we were visiting and generally making me comfortable. His driving and his car were immaculate. There was wifi in the car and also a generous supply of water, snacks etc. Each hotel/homestay I visited was superb and the variety of experiences I was given was excellent. Every other day I was contacted to ensure everything was in order. However for most of the time I was left to enjoy the experience of a lovely part of India. A perfect holiday

What was good about our local partner based in India?

Very easy to plan a trip with. But more importantly, very attentive to assuring all remained good with the execution. When I was booking, Kerala suffered devastating floods. I was worried and thought about cancellation. Also near my departure time the Foreign Office were advising about riots associated with females being allowed to enter temples. The local company were understanding but reassuring that all would be well. Trust them.

What could our local partner based in India improve on?

What did you think about the guides or drivers on your trip?

Santosh, my driver, was perfect. He spoke good English. Knew the area and its history etc well. Drove exceedingly well in typically fraught Indian conditions. He did not 'push' shopping or other events unless I asked. He became a good friend during the trip and afterwards. The car was excellent- clean, comfortable with water and snacks and importantly with on board wifi.

What advice would you give to other travellers planning a trip to India?

Be very clear what you are looking for and then trust the judgement of the local company

What was the most memorable part of your trip?

The absolute peace and tranquillity of the Keralan backwaters.
