From touring for 7 nights to a 6 night relax at Manuel Antonio beach area, we loved it. Friendly people, excellent accommodation , excellent tours. Great wildlife and glorious sunshine. Pura Vida . Casual dining. Food was medium to expensive but American portions, so great for sharing if you have little appetites. Traditional meals were lovely. Wildlife was very special. interacting with monkeys, watching sloths ( I am coming back as one in my next life!!) enjoying the birds, to reptiles, snakes, frogs and spiders, Costa Rica has it all. The waterfalls and rain forests are lovely Some dodgy roads , in some areas, make the experience!! There is a lot of hiking to be done, to see the animals, so wear comfy shoes. Just a great country and certainly we saw just a small part, we have to go back!!
From our initial contact with Mariana, to the meet and greet at San Jose hotel, the care and attention we were given was second to none. Mariana was superb. We were late at the hotel in San Jose and she was there with a smile. Easy to contact her during the trip as well. Everything that was planned went well. Punctual , courteous and careful drivers even over the rough roads. Everyone we came in contact with wanted us to enjoy our time in their country. Comfortable transport
Was a little concerned about the length of time some drivers are on the road. We had one pick up and the guy had left his home at 4am to come and pick us up , 3 hours and then a 3 hour drive back without a proper break.
guides and drivers were knowledgeable and most spoke great English. We enjoyed their company
Be prepared for travelling long distances between areas due to bad road conditions or boats involved. Take comfy hiking shoes in order to get into the forests and see the wildlife. Be aware that food is served in very large portions, often best to share unless you have big appetite. Cost is on a par with American travel for UK travellers. Take a mix of Colon and American Dollars, as pricing is in both . Lots of suntan lotion and inspect repellent. Take a local guide or pre book trips otherwise it is very difficult to spot the wildlife, especially the sloths ( often we thought we had seen one only to discover with binoculars it was a termite nest or cluster of dead leafs!!) ENJOY ENJOY
Poas Lodge was amazing and we really didn't do it justice having a one night stay in Poas. We would have loved to have done the Volcanic carter and the walks. Costa Verde Hotel in Manuel Antonio ,we had spectacular views from our balcony. The National Park there was amazing,we saw so much wildlife and the beach was gorgeous, despite the number of people visiting. Seeing the sloths!! Interacting with the monkeys
