Fascinating country and the help we received from Tamta at TravelLocal's partner company in Georgia was essential. Also, on the rare occasion when some encouragement was required Travel Local helpfully stepped in. Tamta's advice on where to go was good e.g avoid Batumi. As regards hotels, Shota Rustaveli in Tbilisi was absolutely excellent. Best Western in Kutaisi was good other than the breakfast that was basic. It had though a great rooftop bar and the room was good. Borjomi Likani in Borjomi was an experience! Room was good but the food was really bad except for the Georgian restaurant. Also, Reception were hit and miss e.g giving us a time for pick up 20 minutes after our train was going to leave! No problem as we realised but surprising from what saw itself as a 'top' hotel. Being met whenever we arrived at a new place was really appreciated. The driver in Tbilisi was great and the driver in Borjomi helpful too. The driver though from Borjomi to Kutaisi gave little assistance e.g.with bags and an uncomfortable 'if there is a car in front i'm going to pass it whatever's coming' experience! We had a really good time and loved Georgia. Thanks for the contribution to making that happen.
Passing on local knowledge to help plan and then deal with practical points like changing money etc. Also, Tamta was responsive when contacted.
All were prompt, which was appreciated. Tbilisi - excellent. Very helpful. In Borjomi - Good In Kutaisi - no help with luggage and gave us an uncomfortable ride to Borjomi. Car also stank of stale smoke which the other cars didn't.
*Get on the free walking tour of Tbilisi when you arrive. it was great and set us up for our stay. *Use the minibuses when you can *In Kutaisi go to Tomas' Wine Cellar
So many! Old Tbilisi was fascinating, our walk in the National Park was amazing, Prometheus Cave, the abandoned sanatoria in Tskaltubo, the monasteries and Vardzia. The friendliness of the people and the food particularly the bread in Tbilisi bakeries and, at the other end of the price spectrum, in Barbarestan.
