Firstly this country as we experienced it was the most welcoming. At no time did we feel we were not wanted and every person we met from guides and interpreters drivers strangers, hotels and restaurants staff as well as craftsmen an women all made great efforts to make our trip a great experience. Sadly we speak neither Russian or Uzbek but with such helpful guides and lots of goodwill and interest from local people people we got to see and hear about a life culture religion politics and history of this striking country. Our trip was tailor made for just us two and so we felt able to follow our own track and got all the support we needed from our guides and drivers. We had some very special visits to peoples homes and in the mountains were entertained by the families 90 year old babouska who sang Soviet songs about Stalin. We had time in Tashkent, Khiva, Bukhara Samarkand and the Changan Mountains climbing up a snow field to see some of the spring flowers and being entertained to lunch in the Meterologist all year Station. Such a great time and we shall be planning more trips we hope before long. At 70 you mustn’t waste time. Oh yes the Market and Bazaar in Tashkent and the wonderful metro are fantastic visits. Thanks everyone Best wishes Jen and Nick Benefield
