Ask any kind of traveler which destination tops their bucket list, and Japan often features – for good reason. Whether you’re eager to explore its deep-rooted traditions, the modern thrills of its megacities, breathtaking nature trails or everything in-between, it always has something unique and individual to offer. We spend a moment chatting with Saphia, our locally-based expert, to find out her top Japan travel tips and experiences – from must-try onsen bathing high in the mountains, to tasting the savory okonomiyaki pancakes of Osaka and Hiroshima.
One of my favorite things about living in Japan, particularly Tokyo, is the seamless blend of tradition and innovation. From centuries-old temples nestled among towering skyscrapers to the contrast of ancient rituals with cutting-edge technology, Japan offers a unique tapestry of culture and progress. It’s a serene escape from the bustling streets and a perfect way to unwind after exploring the wonders of Japan.

Winter is perfect for soaking in hot springs while admiring snow-capped landscapes. Ultimately, it’s about choosing the season that aligns with your interests and desired activities.
Although it’s not very well-known internationally, I recommend okonomiyaki. This savory pancake is a beloved comfort food, especially in Osaka and Hiroshima.
