Our trip to Fergana Valley

This was an extension to our 12 day tour. We think TravelLocal's Uzbekistan partner organised it extremely well and all the arrangements went without a hitch. The drivers and the guide, Bek, were all excellent and we had some very interesting conversations about Uzbeki society with Bek. The visits over the two days were very interesting especially as we went to small, family run woodworking and carpet making businesses. We were upgraded to the the Asia hotel which was very satisfactory. The train journey was fantastic but we found the car journey back very long - all credit to the driver! It will be much better when the tunnels are fully operational. We had not followed up clothes and silk buying options in Bokara, Tashkent etc because of going to the Fegana Valley. However, although the silk making factories in Margalan were fascinating, we found the range of goods on sale to be limited. Many thanks to you all for a brilliant add-on trip.
