Pleased that we were able to choose our own itinerary and have a mix of guided trips and the freedom to do our own thing. Colombia is well worth going to for its scenery, colour, friendliness, value for money (once you have got there!) and not least its fruit juices.
Good communication with us beforehand; they were very responsive to our wishes. While we were in Colombia, Jon kept in touch with us, sent us boarding passes for internal flights and sorted out any problems, including when our plane had to divert to another airport when we were in flight. All guides and drivers turned up on time - the organisation was perfect. Andres, in particular, was an excellent guide - informative and friendly. In addition he arranged a local SIM card for our cell phone enabling us to contact Jon when we needed to.
The only disappointing tour was to Otun Quimbaya Flora and Fauna Sanctuary; as far as the latter was concerned, in 4 hours we saw one frog and one lizard, and not many birds. As it took over two hours to get there and two hours back, it was a wasted day. We recognise that the place is a natural habitat and the animals are free to roam, but the expectations we were given of seeing them were a lot higher than the reality. Providing information on the travel time would have given us the opportunity to decide whether to go elsewhere instead. We found that Hotel Diez in Medellin was a standard place for business folk and lacked character. The service too was rather perfunctory.
The only possible criticism would be of Francisco. He was he only one who asked for feedback (he was presumably required to do so by TravelLocal's local partner as he used a form). Our comments have been recorded, and he took them in a positive spirit. All the others were excellent.
Be aware that despite its reputation, Colombia is perfectly safe in the places we visited, provided normal precautions are followed. We had no problems whatsoever. If you wish to take any of the tours on offer, do your research first ( see comment above on Otun Quimbaya).
Hard to choose, but we would go for our stay in Hacienda Bambusa
