This was our first visit to Costa Rica, not only are the Ticos very friendly it is a wonderful country to visit. The wildlife is superb, the scenery pretty, the cuisine is tasty but not gastronomic and there is a good feeling of safety. There is nothing not to like. The local experts were superb. On arrival in San Jose our driver met us with a lovely bag of goodies, namely 2 reusable tins of water ( I now take mine to the gym) some delicious salted nuts for a little snack and a travel adaptor plug. My tote bag with pictures of sloths on the side is much admired. We were greeted at the hotel in San Jose by Mariana the lovely lady from the local tour agent. We had plenty of email dialogue with her before leaving home to ensure we were happy with all the arrangements in place for our tour. We were very impressed, nothing was too much trouble. Accommodation was very good, transfers were on time and everyone involved in our tour was friendly and helpful. Pura Vida
It was a good itinerary and so well executed we didn't need further assistance but knew it would be there if needed
Please provide a few postage stamps for postcards home....Its a long story!
They were all charming and helpful except transfer from Arenal to Monteverde, minibus barely big enough for number of passengers and very impersonal service. I would also add that getting the guides to rate their performance at the end of each tour is self-defeating as no-one is going to be rude or even honest in their appraisal. one wouldn't know whether poor reviews ever got back to base!! They said it was a national requirement and, if so, it needs an overhaul.
We took the easier option of seeing less and enjoying the moment. Others might try to see everything in a short time which might be less enjoyable than our way. We had limited time but 'cut our cloth accordingly'.
Toucans in the back garden of our villa was the photo highlight, but we couldn't really rate one lovely moment above another.
