Our entire experience of dealing with Travel Local has been positive and enjoyable. From the initial contact via the website, through the planning stages and the building of the tour, the relationship built with the local travel company..and culminating in our fantastic trip ...the whole experience has been stress free, fun and fab. We have just got back from a trip that has been brilliant from start to finish, not a single disappointment or worry or concern. Our hotels were great, our drivers and guides friendly and lovely, we were never let down and we felt utterly privileged and happy during our time in Vietnam.
It was great to have one-to-one contact with our travel consultant Hang Pham in Hanoi, who tirelessly responded to any queries as we built up the trip ( and changed our minds on several occasions). Hang listened to our ideas and added suggestions, always responded very quickly to mails and created a great trip for us. We couldn’t believe how smoothly the trip went, from the first greeting at our arrival to the last drop off at the airport on departure. It was lovely to meet Hang and put a name to the face on our last day and we were touched that she did this. It was the personal touch with Hang and the local company and the interaction with charming intelligent guides that really made this holiday so very special.
I honestly can’t suggest anything...and I am quite a demanding customer. They were excellent from start to finish. Thankyou!
The guides were fantastic...it was such a privilege to spend time with interesting young Vietnamese people who engaged with us and conversed with us and answered our questions. Phin for Saigon and the Mekong was delightful, kind, protective, knowledgable and good humoured even in the worst of deluges sitting in a boat on the Mekong delta. Dong our guide in HoiAn was excellent company and we enjoyed spending time with her talking and understanding more about life in Vietnam, a charming guide with very good English and knowledge. Sam in Hue was young, modern and vibrant and we gained another perspective as we spent time together. Tho in Hanoi was delightful and gentle, and was an excellent source of knowledge about the city and took us to a couple of great spots in the old quarter. All our guides were engaging, spoke good English and are an asset to the company. The local tours and visits were all great and just right for us. Special mention for Phát La Hoàng for the Mekong rustic cycle tour...funny, delightful young man with excellent English. We had some lovely drivers too...especially our driver in Hanoi, Mr Kien(?) . He was so friendly and we had big hugs all round when we said goodbye!
Go on the small cycling trips to little workshops and home visits with a guide. La Chu, cycling around the area and , lunch and foot massage with Mrs Hien and her family was a privilege... visiting the workshop of the women making Banh Nam and Banh Beo , and also seeing the paper votive offerings, was great. Mr and Mrs Nam and their banana cakes...how lucky we were to spend time with them in their house and how generous they were with their time and patience showing us round their garden Without the local company we would not have had this type of glimpse into people’s lives.
