It was a great holiday where we learned a lot and visited all the sites we wanted to see. Highlights were Petra and the Wadi Rum, but all of it was really good and we wished we had more time to explore further. The hotels were good and the staff polite and helpful We liked the Jordanians, they were very friendly. We were particularly happy with the driver assigned to us - Ali - he was very knowledgeable and good fun, a laid-back person who was helpful in making our stay run smoothly. A small criticism is of the Rahayeb Camp. It was a nice place to stay and we loved its location out in the desert as we both love deserts, however, after dinner, loud music was played until lights out at 10pm. We normally don't mind loud music as we both play in a band, but on this occasion and in this place we would have liked some silence as we were looking forward to an evening stroll in the desert, communing with nature, so to speak. We would have needed to walk a long way to get away from the music, so did not bother. Perhaps a quieter camp might have suited us better. The desert is such a quiet place, it is wonderful to experience it, something you cannot normally do. One other very minor point, it was not clear that it would cost 20 JD to pay for facilities to do the Dead Sea swim. In England we can just stop off at a beach and either walk or swim and assumed it would be something similar for the Dead Sea. It wasn't a big deal but I think it would be helpful to know this in advance. Overall we had a wonderful time and would like to return. I think the local tour operator were very efficient in organising our trip and their advice that we should hire a driver was very sound! I think we could not have coped with the driving and were very grateful to have a driver and especially Ali, who added so much to our enjoyment. Please send a big thank you to the local tour operator.
They were very flexible and eager to help. I felt that they made every effort to make our trip a good one, and their advice on having a driver, and their help with our itinerary was invaluable.
Just more information on things like entrance fees for the Dead Sea. Overall, we were very pleased and happy with them.
Ali - a great bloke and a fount of all knowledge on Jordan, as well as being great fun.
Prepare yourselves for lots of heat and deserts, and enjoy the friendly people and history.
Wadi Rum and Petra.
