We were worried about the political situation in Myanmar but decided to go and this decision proved absolutely right. The people were very friendly, the culture fascinating and the scenery beautiful. We spent four weeks travelling around and the guides we used were wonderful. They were very responsive to our needs in terms of what we wanted to see and gave us a real insight into the country. Tourism has been affected by recent events but we were told by a leading member of the democratic party that tourists were a "shining light" as they show the people of Myanmar how others who live in a truly democratic state are free to live and travel.
Response to our emails initially. Whilst we were travelling we changed to itinerary slightly which was no problem. The guides were amazing and everything went very smoothly.
They were all exceptional
Go! Talk to the people, try to understand the politics and be open minded. It is a wonderful country with so much to offer.
The variety; cities, villages, pagodas, monks.
