Detailed Itinerary
Belgrade
Day 1: Arrival in Belgrade
Upon arrival at Belgrade airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to the hotel for check-in. Dinner tonight will be at an authentic local restaurant in the atmospheric bohemian quarter of Skadarlija, in downtown Belgrade. There you will enjoy dinner with live music and entertainment. Skadarlija is often referred to as ‘the Montmartre of Belgrade’.

Day 2: City Tour & Danube River Cruise
After breakfast, you’ll set out on a fascinating half-day city tour. This will be a combination of coach travel and a walking tour. We’ll begin by visiting the Yugoslav History Museum and the famous House of Flowers - a memorial complex devoted to the life and deeds of Josip Broz Tito. From there explore the monumental Saint Sava
Temple, Saint Mark’s Church and the impressive Serbian National Parliament and White Palace. Continue on foot and browse through Knez Mihailova, the main shopping area in Belgrade. Then it’s on to the most important cultural and historic complex of the city - Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress situated on the confluence of the rivers Sava and Danube. In the afternoon hop aboard a river cruise and see the city from a different angle.
Belgrade - Sremski Karlovci - Novi Sad
Day 3: Wine & Honey in Vojvodina Province
After breakfast, you’ll be heading out of the city to Vojvodina Province. Here you’ll take in the serene beauty of the 15th Century Krusedol Monastery and visit the baroque town of Sremski Karlovci. Enjoy a stroll through its charming streets admiring its churches and architecture. Later, visit the Museum of Beekeeping and Zivanovic Winery to sample their honey and sip a local wine that was famously served on The Titanic. Then it’s on to Novi Sad - the European Capital of Culture in 2022, where lunch will be served at a local restaurant on the Danube River. Visit Petrovaradin Fortress and take a walking tour of the city before returning to Belgrade in the evening.
Belgrade - Lepenski Vir - Djerdap Gorge
Day 4: Golubac Fortress & Danube River Cruise
After breakfast, set off for the magical Golubac Fortress. This medieval castle is a place of legends which you’ll learn all about from your guide. Continue to the striking Lepenski Vir Archeological Site at Djerdap Gorge, set on a low Danube terrace. Here archaeologists have uncovered a fascinating sacred site dating from 6500-5500 BC. You’ll then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant with magnificent views over the Djerdap Gorge. In the afternoon we’ll take a cruise along Djerdap Gorge from Tekija to Kazani and back. This is the longest and deepest gorge in Europe and is where the Danube is at its most beautiful.
Belgrade - Topola
Day 5: Topola Tour & Wine Tasting
After breakfast set off with your guide to the town of Topola and visit the historic seat of the KaradjordjevicDynasty. You’ll wander through a pretty parkland area and admire many fine buildings associated with the royal family. In the afternoon we’ll settle in at a local winery for a tasting of some fine local wines.
