8-Day Discovery Of Nature In Northern Macedonia Tour

Welcome to Macedonia! 

Upon arrival at the airport meet your local guide and head to the Northern Macedonian Capital, Skopje.

You'll start your day with a tour of Skopje, an earthquake-ravaged city that offers a new, unique experience. Experience two different cultures and lifestyles between Albanian Macedonian and Ancient Macedonian.

As you stroll through its city center, discover the famous fortress "Tvrdina Kale" and its stone bridge "Kameni Most", which separates the city into two parts with the old Ottoman Bazaar called "Čaršija".

Afterward a day full of sightseeing, you'll return back to your hotel for dinner. 

After breakfast at your hotel, you'll visit Mavrovo National Park and Matka Canyon, a must-see in Macedonia! Discover the caves of Vrelo by boat, which are among the deepest sea caves in the World! 

On the way to Lake Ohrid, you'll make a stop at Tetovo to discover its 15th Century painted Mosque of Sarena Dzamija. Painted both indoors and outdoors, it is one of the most beautiful mosques in Macedonia. 

Next, you'll arrive at Mavrovo National Park witness beautiful landscapes through the Mavroro Lake and the Radika Canyon. After, you'll stop at the Monastery of Saint Jovan Bigorski, located on the heights of the canyon, which represents one of the most beautiful monasteries in Macedonia. Continue your journey to the small village of Janche. 

After breakfast, embark on a hike through mountain scenery to get to the village of Janche. You'll pass the ancient trading route of the Radika River to one of Macedonia's most famous villages, the village of Galichnik. 

Return to Janche in the afternoon and transfer to Ohrid, a UNESCO World Heritage site and sublime city located on the shore of Ohrid Lake. The city represents the culmination of the Macedonian experience, a Kingdom of light and water. Discover its historical heritage, well preserved as the church of Saint Jovan or its ancient theater dating from the Roman Empire.

After breakfast, embark on a half-day kayaking tour to discover the unique natural areas of Lake Ohrid. Next, join the small village of Trpejca for lunch.

After a day on Lake Ohrid, you'll return back to the city of Ohrid in the afternoon. A few fun and adventurous sports activities, such as paragliding or scuba diving will be waiting for you to experience! 

After, you'll return back to Ohrid for dinner with the possibility of being accompanied by local musicians. 

After breakfast, start your day with a hike in Galichitsa National Park. Don't miss a chance to get to Magaro Peak, the highest point in Galichitsa, which rises to 2,255 meters above sea level. Enjoy a picturesque view of Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa, also known as the "eyes of Galichitsa".

After climbing the summit of Galichitsa, descent to the crystal clear waters of the Black Drim River. Next, you visit the Saint Naum Monastery - built in the 10th Century, the monastery is a haven of tranquility on the border between Albania and Macedonia.

At the end of the day, wind down and enjoy a wine cellar tour and tasting of local wines followed by dinner back in Ohrid.

After breakfast, you'll travel through Lake Prespa by boat to get to Stenje. 

You'll discover Golem Grad, "Pelican Island", full of wildlife, such as turtles, great cormorants, snakes, and more. Ruins, birdwatching, and the lush scenery make this a must-see place to explore!

After, you'll return to Stenje for traditional Macedonian lunch with locals, including carp from Lake Prespa. 

After lunch, you'll visit Bitola, the second-largest city in northern Macedonia. Discover a Mediterranean-style city with its churches, mosques, old Ottoman bazaars, and beautiful neoclassical houses.

Afterward, drop your bags at your hotel and visit the Popova Kula Vineyard to learn about Macedonian wine culture and enjoy dinner. The vineyard is located on the heights of a hill, offering a magnificent panoramic view of the region - don't forget to bring your camera!

Enjoy a delicious breakfast before embarking on a day full of sports activities in Demir Kapija. 

Demir Kapija is a town located nearby a popular vineyard known for its "Iron Gate" canyon near the Vardar River. 

Afterward, you'll embark to Kratovo, a little town perched on the western hills of the Osogovo Mountains, located on an extinct volcano crater. The town is also known for its Ottoman bridges, medieval towers, and 19th-century houses. Enjoy a traditional lunch in an old building in the city.

Next, you'll head back to Skopje to drop off your luggage at your hotel and have free time in the Macedonian capital until dinnertime. 

It's your final day in Skopje - you'll have the morning to enjoy breakfast or explore the city one last time.

Be ready for your transfer to the Skopje Airport to catch your flight back home or to continue your travels. A piece of Macedonia will always be with you!
