Detailed Itinerary

Podgorica/tivat - Pluzine - Piva Nature Park
Day 1: Arrival & journey to Piva
Upon your arrival at the airport, you'll be welcomed by your guide before setting off on a two-hour journey to the Piva region. It’s a scenic drive and you'll take your time, stopping at several sites along the way for lunch and to stretch your legs.
The first stop is in Niksic, the second-biggest and perhaps most charming city in the Montenegrin hinterland. Here, enjoy lunch and take a stroll around town. You'll then stop at the 16th-century Piva Monastery, followed by an arrival into Pluzine, where you'll check into your accommodation and unwind.

Pluzine - Stabna Village - Piva Nature Park
Day 2: Hiking in Piva Nature Park
Today you'll set off on your first hike of around 14km, through the remote foothills of the Bioc-Maglic-Volujak mountain massif. This highland region is breathtakingly beautiful with its pristine countryside, rural hamlets, and traditional summer farming settlements. You'll traverse and encounter a variety of habitats including dense forests, glacial lakes, and fresh mountain springs along the way. With fantastic views, peaceful paths and plenty of fresh air to enjoy, you’ll feel fully reset and ready to explore further.

Pluzine - Piva Canyon - Tara Canyon
Day 3: White water rafting adventure
Today you'll head for the wild Tara River, known as ‘The Teardrop of Europe’ owing to its crystal-clear waters. It's also home to the deepest canyon in Europe and is an excellent place to try your hand at white water rafting, venturing through 18 exciting rapids along the most beautiful section of the river. With your feet back on dry land, head for your next guesthouse accommodation in a stunning location, up on a high ridge above the Tara Canyon.

Piva Plateau (Sokolina) - Nedajno
Day 4: Mountain hikes & warm hospitality
Today, take a 20km hike through some of the most stunning mountain scenery the country has to offer. Starting in the forests around Sokolina, you'll climb up to the highlands of the Piva Mountains, passing through old Montenegrin villages as you go. Surrounded by high peaks and fantastic vistas, make your way towards the mountain village of Nedajno, were you will spend the evening enjoying warm Montenegrin hospitality.

Nedajno - Durmitor National Park
Day 5: Wild swimming & wild camping
Today, your hiking route will take you towards one of the highest peaks in Montenegro – the Durmitor. This 14km hike leads you through a pretty valley before ascending to the Skrka Lakes Valley, located 1,686m above sea level. Here you’ll stop for lunch and a refreshing swim in one of the two lakes. After a relaxing break, begin the climb to the Skrcko Zdrijelo pass, at an elevation of 2,114m, and enjoy outstanding views. From here you'll descend to Dobri Do Valley to pitch up and wild camp for the night, in the company of local summer farmers.

Durmitor National Park - Komarnica Valley - Poscenje
Day 6: Enjoy a gentle valley hike
After a challenging few days of hiking, today's programme will be much more gentle: you'll have the chance to stretch your legs with a low-intensity walk through pretty forested valleys. In the afternoon, arrive at the beautiful village of Poscenje, blessed with two glacial lakes and surrounded by striking landscapes. Enjoy a relaxing evening at the Nevidio eco-village, with dinner in their excellent restaurant.

Poscenje
Day 7: A day to relax
Enjoy a day of rest to recover from your mountain adventures. We'd suggest a lie-in and a gentle walk around the area, but if you're aching for more, you could ask your guide about a range of optional excursions to enjoy.

Poscenje - Lukavica Mountain - Kapetanovo Lake
Day 8: The shepherds’ trails of Lukavica Mountain
After relaxing in Poscenje, it’s time to get back out into the wilds of Montenegro. Your next adventure takes you to Lukavica Mountain, another area of pastureland used by traditional nomadic families during the summer months. They usually stay there with their animals from June to the end of October, making cheese and cream from their herd. This route is best taken by mountain bike, but those who are not keen can of course journey on foot. Spend the night at a local homestay in the mountains or camping by a lakeside.

Kapetanovo Lake - Mrtvica Canyon - Kolasin
Day 9: Intrepid Mrtvica Canyon hike
Today you'll embark on a long, 28km hike along an easy-to-moderate trail. Descending from Kapetanovo Lake between the mountains of Lukavica and Maganik, it will lead you through the canyon of Mrtvica. Here you'll find a crystal-clear river flowing between spectacular rocky walls that rise more than 1,000m up above you. Then, follow a unique path cut through massive rocks, taking you through an unforgettable complex of natural rock, river rapids and waterfalls. The hike is long but much of it is on a gently descending path.

Kolasin - Komovi Nature Park
Day 10: Scenic hike in Komovi Nature Park
Today you'll head for the expanse of Komovi Nature Park to enjoy a circular walk around the base of a mountain. Experience the sheer beauty of this magical area, with stunning views of Montenegro’s highest peaks.

Kolasin - Podgorica/tivat
Day 11: Airport transfer
After your last breakfast in Montenegro, you'll transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
