Detailed Itinerary

Welcome to Reykjavík

Reykjavik

Day 1: Welcome to Reykjavík

Upon arrival into Reykjavik International Airport, collect your luggage before taking our bus transfer to Reykjavík, where you have the rest of the day to explore the northernmost capital of the world.

In the evening, walk to the harbor and take a boat tour in Reykjavik’s bay, hunting for the magic Northern Lights, dancing in the Arctic sky. If the thought of a cruise on the sea makes you feel a bit queezy, there is the option to do it from land in a super-jeep or a minivan.

Day 2: Cruise the Golden Circle

Today, you will tour along the famous Golden Circle in a small group, to visit Iceland’s most famous landmarks, such as Thingvellir National Park where you will walk on the border of the the continental plates of America and Eurasia.

Admire the famous active geyser Strokkur which erupts up to 30 meters (98 ft) every few minutes and the mighty Gullfoss waterfall. Here you join a 1-hour snowmobile ride on Iceland´s second biggest glacier, Langjokull, before proceeding to the Kerid crater for a short walk on the top.

Have a lunch break in a local Icelandic farm, family-owned since 1850. This Icelandic family-run business sticks to traditional Icelandic farming culture and focuses on cattle breeding. Enjoy their tasty farm-to-table dairy products, see the stunning mountain view and pet the friendly animals before heading back to Reykjavik for the evening.

Day 3: Waterfalls and Northern Lights

Today, you will head to the famous southern coast on a small group tour. Your first stop is Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can walk behind it and stand in a cave under the cliff to watch the water roaring down in front of you.

Next, you will find the powerful Skogafoss, which you can climb for a different perspective and, on clear days, even see the Vestmann islands off the ocean.

In the afternoon, you have the chance to join a glacier walk, a spectacular experience and opportunity to learn more about these breathtaking and increasingly rare natural phenomena.

Upon arrival at your hotel, you will have dinner and then meet your guide for further information about the Northern Lights. If the sky is clear and the forecast is good, your guide will wander out in the dark with you. The vicinity of your hotel is a brilliant spot to hunt the famous Aurora Borealis.

Meals: Breakfast
Glacier Lagoon, Icebergs and Diamond Beach

Jokulsarlon - Dyrolhaey - Reynisfjara

Day 4: Glacier Lagoon, Icebergs and Diamond Beach

Your day starts early with a drive through the majestic nature of the Skaftafell National Park to the Vatnajokull Glacier area. Explore the surreal glacier lagoon and the nearby Diamond Beach with its black sand. The river is washing icebergs from lagoon into the sea, and many are washed ashore, so the entire beach is covered with ice chunks.

In Jokulsarlon, you get the chance to see seals and the Arctic Skua, one of the largest scavenger birds in Iceland. Embark on a super jeep ride to explore an ice cave where your guide will share his expertise about ice caves, allowing you to truly appreciate this amazing natural phenomenon.

In the afternoon, continue along the Ring Road back to Reykjavik with a stop at the Dyrholaey Basalt Arch and its lighthouse. The black sand lava beach of Reynisfjara with its Reynisdrangar Columns, huge hexagonal basalt columns rising out of the sand is a sight to see

Depending when your flight is, you may need to then head straight to the airport after the Blue Lagoon experience.

All good things must come to an end but we hope you have enjoyed your time exploring the very best that the island of Iceland has to offer. The rich natural beauty history and the people that make the country what it is.
