Detailed Itinerary

La Paz
Day 1: High Up in La Paz
Welcome to La Paz! We'll meet you at El Alto International Airport and transfer you to your hotel for check-in. La Paz is situated at a high altitude.
Today, we recommend to take it easy since acclimatization is essential to enjoy the rest of the activities. Ask your guide for more information on adapting to the altitude, such as drinking coca tea. If you just can’t resist going out, ask for recommendations on a short neighborhood walk.

La Paz
Day 2: Take the Cable Car to Explore La Paz
After breakfast, you will explore the city via the new cable car system. Since its opening in 2017, the new Mi Teleférico system offers 10 lines crisscrossing the city.
Your full-day tour will take you on six different lines, from El Alto to La Paz's bohemian neighborhood of Sopocachi. The tour will end with a stroll along Jaen Street with colonial buildings, small museums, and plenty of history.
In the afternoon, you will return to your hotel. You have the evening at leisure – spend it the way you wish to.

La Paz - Rurrenabaque - Madidi National Park
Day 3: Travel to the Amazon
Today, you'll fly from the highlands of La Paz into the heart of Bolivia's Amazon rainforest. You will land in Rurrenabaque – gateway to the rainforest. After a quick briefing, you'll proceed to the river and board a motorized canoe.
You will head to the Tuichi River and into the Madidi National Park, one of the planet's most biologically diverse places. After taking in the views of the rainforest and registering with the protected area, you will reach our eco-lodge by noon. Here, you will meet your hosts, members of an indigenous-led, community-based tourism project. Settle in your cabin and have a delicious lunch. Afterwards, you will head into the rainforest where you can learn all about the flora and fauna of Madidi. Your hike will last about two to three hours.
Return to your lodge for some rest. After dinner, relax and have a chat with members of the community-based tourism project.

Day 4: Experience Rainforest Life at Madidi National Park
Life starts early in the rainforest and your wake-up call comes in the form of bird songs and the occasional monkey call. You’ll have breakfast at 7:00 am before taking a hike to a local birding spot. It is known for resident populations of parrots, macaws and other species that use a massive natural wall for nesting.
Along the way, you will hike through the mature rainforest and your local guides will share their knowledge about how indigenous people use plants and animals as part of their cultural practices and survival skills. Feel one with nature!
You will return to the lodge for lunch. Afterward, you can laze off on a hammock or participate in an activity such as learning how to make traditional handicrafts using natural materials from the forest. Alternatively, you can also go fishing in the river.

Madidi National Park - Rurrenabaque - Pampas De Yacuma
Day 5: River Safari at the Beni Pampas Grassland
Rise and shine! After breakfast at 6 a.m., you will depart from the lodge. Head to the town of Santa Rosa de Yacuma, located in a unique ecoregion known as the Beni Pampas, adjacent to the rainforests of Madidi.
The trip takes about 2 - 3 hours and along the way, you will see sloths, birds, and other animals common to this region. Once in Santa Rosa, you will travel by boat along the Yacuma River to our eco-lodge. The Beni Pampas is an immense grassland threaded by riverine or gallery forests where wildlife gathers for cover, food ,and nesting.
After lunch, you will begin your river safari and observe a great diversity of animal species along the river. See dozens of animals species, including caimans, capybaras, turtles, birds, and, if the season is right, the beautiful, pink river dolphins that live here. You'll be back at our lodge by night and have time for a well-deserved rest.

Today, if you are an early bird, you will wake up to listen and watch the Pampas come to life. You can relax on your bed, on the hammock or walk along with your guide, experience the sunrise and listen to the sounds of howler monkeys and other residents as the day begins.
Eat a quick breakfast followed by a short hike along raised berms in the grasslands. Observe a variety of birds, capybaras, caimans, turtles, and other animals. After lunch, you will return to Rurrenabaque for your flight back to La Paz. Transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.
