Day 1: Touchdown in Tanzania

Welcome to Tanzania! You've chosen a fantastic place for your safari journey. Once you've arrived, a local representative will get you started with an introductory briefing. Check in and relax at your hotel for the evening, getting yourself ready for a few days of epic adventures.

Day 2: Journey to the Usambara Mountains

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the Lushoto district. Lushoto was formerly known as Wilhelmstal (William's Valley) and was named after Emperor Wilhelm II. During the German colonial period from the 1890s to 1918, the area was popular with settlers, hence the German place name of Wilhelmstal.

The district is characterized by its pleasant mountain climate, plantations and farms, numerous church missions, and lush green surroundings. The Usambara Mountains offer amazing views, historic sites, and idyllic trails to explore. These fertile mountain slopes are dotted with small villages and farms, but for the most part, they are covered with tropical forests.

Day 3: Explore Lushoto's landscapes on foot

After breakfast, today you'll have a selection of walks and trails to set out and explore. Enjoy a hike to the highest peak in Usambara, or settle for a shorter and more serene stroll in nature. Colobus monkeys and colorful birds (including the unique trumpeter hornbill) can be spotted in abundance here. For spectacular vistas, hike for a few hours up to the Irente Viewpoint before rewarding yourself with a picnic lunch at a nearby farm.

Day 4: Village encounters & waterfall walks

Today's tour starts with an uphill walk to Jergeastal, as your guide provides a short history of the area. Learn all about the forest's nursery trees, and keep your eyes peeled for black-and-white colobus monkeys, chameleons, and colorful butterflies.

Continue with a walk to the village of Mkuzi, to learn about locally-grown medicinal plants and farming practices as well as to interact with the locals. Hike to a nearby waterfall next, where you'll stop to enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of the lush forest, before returning to your hotel to relax for the rest of the day.

Day 5: Into the Magoroto Forest Estate

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Magoroto forest area, where you'll bed down in tented camp lodgings surrounded by unspoiled nature. Surrounded by the landscapes of the Muheza Valley, soak up stunning views that stretch out towards the Indian Ocean, and marvel at the rainforest's bountiful flora and fauna: rare plants and bird species abound, offering nature-lovers a wonderful chance to explore to their heart's content! You could also spend some time learning about local organic spices, enjoying a picnic, or swimming in a beautiful lake.

Day 6: A day of refreshing relaxation

Today, take the time to slow your pace and relax! After breakfast, venture out of your campsite to seek respite from the warmth: enjoy a rejuvenating shower at the waterfalls and a swimming session at the lake, which features freshwater fed in by natural springs. The lake is 12m deep, too, allowing for one of the best diving experiences in the area.

Day 7: Venture into the rainforest

The Magoroto Estate's dense rainforest provides a great playground for easy walks, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in a natural paradise. Venture across numerous meandering streams, as you learn all about the plant species that fill the forests of Magoroto. Whichever trail you choose to follow today, is entirely up to you and your preferences. On Saturdays, the Estate even holds a barbecue night featuring delicious grilled meats or fish - kick back to enjoy this and a cold beer by the lake!

Optionally, as part of the day's activities, you could head out to explore one of five mountain biking trails suited to your fitness level, enjoying a cool fresh breeze as you go.

Magoroto - Arusha

Day 8: Welcome to Arusha

After breakfast, leave the Magoroto Forest Estate behind as you transfer to the city of Arusha, at the base of the volcanic Mount Meru. Check into your hotel there and relax after your travels.

If time allows and you have energy left to burn, why not set out on a tour to explore the city in depth? Surround yourself with the buzz and chaos of its Central Market, take an educational trip to the Cultural Heritage Center, and stock up on curios and crafts to take home with you.

Day 9: Goodbye, Tanzania!

Sadly, your Tanzanian nature safari trip is coming to an end. After breakfast and at a suitable time, check out of your hotel and transfer to the international airport, where your onward flight awaits. Depending on your flight schedule, lunch can also be included today.
