Detailed Itinerary

Welcome to Kenya

Nairobi

Day 1: Welcome to Kenya

Arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you'll be whisked away to your hotel for an overnight stay. Take this opportunity to relax, recoup and recover from your flight.

If time permits, a visit to the Giraffe Centre or a game drive in Nairobi National Park can be arranged. The city also offers a wide range of restaurants and craft shops to explore, and you have the freedom to make your own lunch and dinner arrangements to suit.

Your accomodation for the first night is located in the heart of Lavington. One of Nairobi’s calmest areas, find yourself surrounded by a well-conserved habitat boasting a multitude of different bird varieties and a local colony of vervet monkeys: look out for them swinging by daily on the tree-lined street.

Tsavo

Day 2: First game drive

After a tasty breakfast, your driver will take you to the local airstrip for the flight to Tsavo. From there, you'll be met for the overland transfer to the camp.

There's plenty of time to check in, have lunch and settle in to the camp before your first, shared, afternoon game drive. The drive continues until sunset for a spectacular opening experience.

Afterwards, return to camp for dinner and your first night at the lodge.

(NB: Soroi Lions Bluff Lodge is situated in the Lumo conservancy, so flights and transfers will be adjusted accordingly.)

Day 3: Full day of game drives

After breakfast, you'll head out into Tsavo West conservancy for a morning game drive, followed by lunch and another game drive in the afternoon.

The savannah ecosystem here comprises open grasslands, scrublands and acacia woodlands, belts of riverine vegetation and rocky ridges, including the Poacher's Lookout. Head there for a magnificent view of the teeming herds on the plains below, then dive back in to the main attraction.

This very special conservancy offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world, including elephant, rhino, hippo, lion, cheetah, leopard and buffalo. The diversity continues with a wide variety of plant and bird species to spot; look out for the threatened corncrake and near threatened Basra Reed Warbler.

Head back to camp to relax and have dinner in the evening.

Day 4: Afternoon game drive & endangered species

After a hearty breakfast, you'll be driven to the airstrip in time for your flight to Nairobi; then, it's an onward flight to Laikipia. After being met from the flight, your land transfer awaits; arrive at the camp in time to check in and have lunch. There'll be time to settle in before the excitement of the afternoon game drive.

The Laikipia Plateau is home to more endangered species than anywhere else in East Africa; look out for Grévy's zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest and wild dog among others. Divided into seven large conservancies there is more than enough to go around. Enjoy a spectacular game drive to see a wide array of animals and birds that are living wild and free. Continuing through sunset, this is an exhilirating experience.

Back at camp, why not sit out on the deck to toast a perfect day's safari before dinner?

Start the day with another filling breakfast to fuel yourself for the transfer to the airstrip. A local flight will take you into the heart of the fabled Masai Mara.

You'll be met on arrival by your driver, who will transfer you to your camp. Checking in before lunch, relax and get to know the facilities. This afternoon's game drive provides your first up-close experience of the region.

Day 7: Mara Naboishi

Fill yourself up again at breakfast today, as you'll be heading off for another full day of game drives this morning and afternoon.

Mara Naboisho is the second largest Masai Mara conservancy, with one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in the region. The conservancy’s picturesque rolling hills, riverside acacia woodlands and sprawling grasslands are home to herds of elephant, giraffe, wildebeest and plenty of lions.

Mara Naboishi has just nine safari camps; this is your chance to enjoy an exclusive safari feel both in camp and out on game drives. There are additional options to take wilderness walks and visit a Masai village for further immersion into the famous culture of the Masai people.

Head back to camp in the evening to wind down over dinner and drinks.

Day 8: Experience the Masai Mara plains

Today offers the chance of full relaxation or, if you'd rather, take part in an optional activity. You might opt for a hot air balloon safari over the Masai Mara plains: a particularly memorable trip. This adventure begins just before dawn, setting out for the take-off zone. The sunrise flight lasts around an hour. Then, tuck into a delicious bush breakfast, freshly cooked on balloon burners in the middle of the Mara plains, and toast your flight with a glass of sparkling wine, before enjoying a game drive back to the lodge.

Alternatively, simply opt to enjoy a delicious breakfast in the bush after an early morning game drive or choose to join your guide for this special visit to a Masai village to gain a glimpse into traditional life there.

Whatever you choose, an additional activity or a day of rest, there's still ample time to enjoy a farewell dinner back at camp as the day progresses.
