AMAZING!

DELHI On arrival into India Rohit collected us.....professional and helpful Rimpy was our driver for the next 8 days. Exceptional driver and happy to point out landmarks when we didn’t have our guide. When we return to India we would definitely ask for him.....really amazing! Dinish was our guide....very good. The Claridges Hotel.......good although room very dark. View not great from window. Felt like we were underneath the swimming pool. AGRA Prankash was our guide in Agra. By far he was the best guide of our holiday. Very knowledgable, funny, chatty and passionate about his job...clearly! Trident hotel.....very good and clean. Nice and bright room. RANTHAMBORE Pancil met us at Ranthambore......he organised a third reserve drive for us. Loved hotel.....quirky and despite being new, felt like you were in an old palace! Not happy with the Ranthambore ‘set up’. The third drive that Pancil organised was very poor. We went into Zone 7 and only spotted 8 dears throughout the whole 2 hour drive.....no monkeys, snakes, birds, antelope etc etc. We saw more wildlife (camel, dogs, pigs, monkeys, cows) in the streets on our return journey. I said that the tigers wouldn’t be where there is no food!! Equally there was no watering source apart from a massive puddle which is the amount I drink in a day. Really feel it was a con. No tiger spotting report was filed in this zone......we were told that this was because it’s not a vip zone! We were last to leave the hotel and first to be dropped back so in addition to having the longest drive to the zone than the other tourists, had the shortest time in the reserve! Also zone 7 is near to a busy main road....when the driver kept turning to engine off to hear the signs a tiger is around all we could hear were car horns and traffic engines! I also asked what animals would make the warning sounds as there are no animals they just said the birds.....but there weren’t even birds? Our previous drives were in Zone 2 and Zone 3 and whilst we were gutted that we didn’t see a tiger they would have been there due to the massive water supply and wildlife in the zones.....so understand we were just unlucky! JAIPUR Gorath met at hotel in Jaipur Jai was our guide.....very good ITL hotel not so good.....view from room was awful, room a bit tatty. Amazing entrance/foyer in the hotel. Of course we could have asked to change room but felt it was too much hassle with an afternoon arrival, then a full day of sightseeing the following day. I have photos if you want me to send them MUMBAI Anthony met in Mumbai....lovely, chatty, funny....pointing out landmarks and highlights along the drive into Mumbai and making coffee house and restaurant suggestions.....really liked him and gutted we didn’t see him again. Marley driver on two days....no water although did ask at about 3.30pm on day of our sightseeing. Rupa guide....very quiet and had to keep asking her to repeat things. Think she felt annoyed so we stopped asking in the end. With the long ferry to elephanta caves we said we didn’t need to stop for lunch but she said she needed to which was a bit frustrating as we then felt rushed to ‘get through’ the day. Definitely felt it was a tick box to get sites seen. Felt she was going through the motions on the tour and felt there was no passion like we got from the other guides. Trident hotel good albeit massive.....nice room and view. Return to airport can’t remember rep or driver names

What could our local partner based in India improve on?

They were great and very helpful. Ranthambore zones are an issue.

What advice would you give to other travellers planning a trip to India?

Change hotel room on arrival if you’re not happy with view....check the view on entering the room. Refuse to go on drives in zones 6-10 in Ranthambore......tiger sightings are so so much less likely. Of course tigers are wild animals and may roam through these zones but you have much much less chance of spotting them....seriously!

What was the most memorable part of your trip?

Of course The Taj Mahal.....but also loved Delhi
