We booked to visit Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos through Travel Local and their local partner and what a great decision that was. All the time spent deciding on the itinerary, the detail included was just amazing. The hotels were as requested, smaller, quirky and interesting yet the standard of service wherever we went was unbeatable. All the local tour guides were pleasant, informative, helpful and generally just really lovely, helpful people intent on ensuring we got the most from our visit. Dzong, our agent was indispensible, especially when I was taken ill. Despite a 6.45 am call on a Sunday, she expertly rearranged the itineray and sorted all that was need to be done, was concerned about my wellbeing and kept us informed of what was happening, thank you, it was greatly appreciated. We had one small glitch when a driver was late to collect us but the helpline number swung into action and sorted us out. We enjoyed boat trips, Vespa rides, sailing down the Meekong, crocodiles, temples, markets, bike rides, massages, food trips and much much more. I really can not commend everyone involved highly enough. A trip of a lifetime, thank you.
Everything! From the questionnaire that identified what sort of holiday we wanted, through the suggestions and proposals made, the arangements were impeccible. The guides were all lovely, knowledgible and inspiring, everyone eager to please and so pleased we were visiting thier country. Travelling in less developed countries, experiencing different cultures is always exciting and we were given a really fantastic range of experiences and adventures. Thank you Dzong
It was all first class
Vinny in Hanoi was so informative. Mr. V in Phnom Penn was very humbling and it was a privilege to hear his first hand experiences. David is Saigon was a scream - every minute was an adventure. Sak in Luang Prabang was a joy, very accommodating and social, we had a blast in Laos! All the drivers were conciencious and careful. Given the madness of most of the roads and driving in this part of the world, we always felt safe and well cared for. It was a shame the young driver collecting us at Hanoi on our last day and the return to the airport was not the best time keeper, but this was the only minor blip of the trip.
Do it! We loved it all. Discovered Pho 10 in Hanoi on our 1st night for the best Pho bar one. Could have done with another day in Hanoi for all the interesting places. Halong Bay wasn't the highlight we expected, mainly as the weather was cool and misty but still enjoyed the kyak and swim in the sea. The visit to La Chu village outside Huw was a treat. Cycling through the village, visiting the real village market, a winderful home cooked lunch and the best foot massage ever! Phnom Penh was an experience. Loved the Vespa ride. Dinner in the Secret Garden was a real find. The whole Meekong trip was brilliant. The homestay was fantastic despite the snake in the bedroom that got us an upgraded move! The 5.30 start for the trip to the market was absolutely worth it. The breakfast on the river was the best Pho we had all holiday. Siddharta hotel in Siem Reap was the best we stayed in. Lovely staff, a nice location, pool, restaurant and it seemed our own personal tuk tuk driver! Luang Prabang was a revelation and the guide here was jsut fantastic - nothing too much trouble and he ensured we got the most from our trip.
Too may to pick one - Cycling in La Chu Vespa tour in Phnom Penh Sharing the story of Mr V in the Killing Fields was very humbling Angkor Wat and the Royal enclosure at Bayon Temple Gate crashing a wedding in Ban Xien Gmien, being made to feel very welcome by everyone The openness, warmth and genuine pleasureof all the people we encountered.
