Day 1: Arrive in London

Welcome to England’s renowned capital city. After a private transfer from Heathrow Airport to your hotel, settle in and enjoy your first glimpse of London.

Spend the afternoon at your own pace: why not take a relaxing stroll through Hyde Park, one of London’s iconic Royal Parks? Visit Kensington Gardens to see the Prince Albert and Princess Diana memorials or venture further to Buckingham Palace, where you might witness the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony.

In the evening, explore the city's thrilling food and nightlife scene: you'll be spoilt for choice.

Day 2: Capital of culture & history

Begin the day with a choice of world-class cultural institutions. Visit the British Museum to explore artifacts spanning over two million years or admire artistic masterpieces by Van Gogh, Monet and Turner at the National Gallery. If modern art appeals, continue to the Tate Modern along the River Thames.

At lunchtime, Borough Market, London’s oldest and most vibrant food market, offers an array of culinary delights before you make your way to the Churchill War Rooms, the underground headquarters used by Churchill and his cabinet during World War II.

You can choose to add an optional visit to the Tower of London, home to the Crown Jewels, or take a water taxi along the Thames for a unique view of London’s landmarks. In the evening, why not add in the magic of the West End, with a theatre show? If you'd like to experience them all, opt to extend your stay in London by an extra day.

Day 3: Discover the City of Dreaming Spires

After breakfast, you'll travel by train to the historic university city of Oxford, known as the City of Dreaming Spires.

On arrival, join a walking tour of the city’s colleges, along with the Bodleian Library and Radcliffe Square. Learn about Oxford’s fascinating academic history and admire its stunning architecture.

Spend the afternoon exploring at your own pace. Visit the the beautiful Botanical Gardens and spend some time relaxing in the University Parks before returning to your accommodation. 

Feeling energetic? Take part in the optional punting experience and try your hand at this quintessentially English experience, offering unique views of the city from the river.

Bladon - Oxford

Day 4: Blenheim's splendours

Enjoy breakfast this morning, then embark on the straightfoward train journey to Hanborough; from there, a short walk to Bladon brings you to St Martin’s Churchyard, the final resting place of Sir Winston Churchill.

Pause to consider this prime minister's impact on the world last century, before continuing to Blenheim Palace. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and his birthplace, it is one of England’s most magnificent stately homes. Designed by Capability Brown, the palace’s landscaped grounds offer a serene setting to explore before touring the opulent interior.

Return to Oxford in the evening: consider a stroll along the River Thames to Port Meadow before finding a spot for dinner, perhaps at a traditional riverside pub or cosy city centre inn.

Moreton-in-marsh - Chipping Camden

Day 5: Country life in the Cotswolds

Depart Oxford after breakfast and travel to Moreton-in-Marsh, your gateway to the Cotswolds and base for the next two days.

After settling into your hotel, take a short bus ride to Chipping Campden, a historic market town filled with charming shops and cafes. This town is also the starting point of the Cotswolds Way and was once the site of the 'Cotswold Olympick Games', a quirky traditional country event dating back to the 1600s.

From Chipping Campden, join a stunning countryside trail to Hidcote Gardens. Run by the National Trust, Hidcote is renowned for its mood gardens and unusual blend of formal design mixed with natural beauty. You'll have a chance to relax over a late lunch at the cafe if you're feeling hungry, before returning to Moreton-in-Marsh for the evening.

Stratford - Moreton-in-marsh

Day 6: Shakespeare country

Start your day with a hearty breakfast, followed by a private transfer to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare.

Visit his family home and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, where Shakespeare courted his future wife. These beautifully preserved 16th-century buildings offer a glimpse into the playwright’s early life. There are plenty more Shakespearian sights to see around the town, including his final resting place at Holy Trinity Church. A walk along the riverside is a delight; passing the Royal Shakespeare Company, there are often plays being rehearsed and a sense of excitement fills the air. Spend time exploring this charming town before returning to Moreton-in-Marsh in the evening.

If your cultural curiosity has been piqued in Straford, you have the opportunity add in an optional performance of one of Shakespeare's plays at the RSC.

Day 7: Hot springs & Roman heritage

After breakfast at your hotel, it's time to travel south by train to the UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath.

Meet your guide for a walking tour through Bath, where you will encounter some of the world’s best-preserved Roman remains, and learn about the city’s long history as a spa town. Explore the elegant Georgian streets and visit world-famous landmarks, such as the Royal Crescent and the ancient Roman Baths. Literature enthusiasts can take an optional visit to the Jane Austen Museum, to learn about the life of one of England’s most beloved authors.

Today also includes plenty of free time to explore the city at your own pace, before making your way to your luxury hotel where you can relax and unwind in style.

Stonehenge - Castle Combe - Bath

Day 8: Mysterious stone circles

Join a small-group tour to take in the ancient sites of Stonehenge and Avebury, as well as visiting the chocolate-box village of Castle Combe.

Visiting Stonehenge early means you'll avoid the crowds, and experience the peace and serenety of this ancient Neolithic landmark. Travel onwards to Castle Combe, known as one of the prettiest village in the Cotswolds. Wander its idyllic streets or relax by the stream. The nearby motor-racing circuit is also a big attraction: you might even see some classic cars passing through the village. The tour concludes with a visit to Avebury, a Bronze Age ceremonial site and home to an impressive prehistoric stone circle dating back to 2850 BC.

Return to Bath in the evening for your final night in this captivating city.
