What do you enjoy most about living in Ghana?

There are a lot of things I like about Ghana, among which are our diverse culture and tolerance for one another. Ghana regarded as the gateway to Africa because of our hospitable nature. As well, Ghana has a lot of remains from the Transatlantic slave trade, and this gives opportunities for all Black descendants who cannot trace their roots to regard Ghana as their home.

When would you say is the best time to visit?

One can visit Ghana all year round, but it is perfect to visit during the dry season, which spans the months from November to April. During this period, the more pleasant weather offers better wildlife-viewing opportunities and road conditions.

What would you recommend anyone visiting Ghana should do?

I would recommend anyone who visits Ghana takes a tour of the slave dungeons at Cape Coast Castle. There is a lot to learn, and making a trip there will teach you how to be appreciative of the freedom you enjoy.

In your opinion, what are three itinerary highlights to enjoy when visiting Ghana?

  • Tour the Slave Dungeons: As mentioned above, the remains of the Transatlantic slave trade offer a great source of local history and teach important lessons; it’s worth visiting them to learn about the inhumane activities that occurred during that era.
  • Take a Kumasi city tour: Kumasi is the capital of the Ashanti Region, and is well known for its great cultural heritage. A tour of this city will enable the client explore the various cultures of the indigenes.
  • Explore Mole National Park: Nature lovers would love the Mole National Park because of the wildlife presence. Even though Ghana does not have the Big Five, one will have the opportunity to see animals like elephants, kob, bushbuck, warthogs, baboons, green monkeys, different bird species and many plants.

What delicious food would you suggest trying on a first trip to Ghana?

Ghana has a lot of culinary delicacies because of its many ethnic groups. Anyone coming to Ghana should try our signature jollof rice, which is arguably one of the best-tasting African dishes. Also, don’t miss your chance to try our palaver sauce, served with tubers or rice.

What’s one piece of advice you would give someone visiting your country?

As when visiting any other part of the world, I would say to show respect for the culture of the people. This is essential for enjoying a mindful, more immersive and authentic trip.
