We were impressed by the diversity of the country eg we did not know that Colombia had so many indigenous tribes or that we would have the chance to meet any of them! We were happy with all the accommodation chosen for us and the guides and drivers were very good.
They provided us with a suitable itinerary very quickly. Everything on the trip went smoothly considering how much had to be organised.
One very small criticism is that when we visited the Don Diego River we were not aware that we would be going down the river on a tube! The itinerary did suggest a change of clothes but we assumed that was for swimming. The tubing was actually great fun but we could have done with some warning!
All guides were excellent and very knowledgeable. Felt safe with all the drivers and they were all helpful and polite.
Colombia is so interesting and varied that you should go for at least 2 weeks - especially as the distances between towns are often long.
We particularly enjoyed Barichara and liked the Hotel Hicasua very much. We also loved Hotel Villa Maria at Tayrona and could have happily stayed there longer. We were a bit worried about having to eat in the hotel every night but the food was very good and reasonably priced. We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of wildlife on the Don Diego river and the presence of the indigenous tribes.
