This is our 3rd trip through Travel Local, previously having done wonderful trips to Jordan and Sri Lanka with great success! This time it was Rwanda, land of a thousand hills, and the whole trip was just fabulous from start to finish, arranged and tailored exactly as we requested through Brian, your local partner. We spent a week, taking in the very best of beautiful Rwanda with our fabulous driver Eric who is a walking Wikipedia of all things Rwanda, and like me a passionate wildlife lover. I have had at the top of my bucket list forever a visit to see the Mountain Gorillas, and having now had the huge privilege to experience them, it certainly did not disappoint. Our hour permit was spent at very close quarters with the Kwitonda family group of 34 gorillas who allowed us to sit and watch them relaxing and playing in a lovely sunny clearing for the whole hour, it was totally worth the 4 hour sometimes tough hike... and way exceeded all expectations... we were totally blown away... just... WOW!!!
I dealt directly with your local partner Brian, and he happily tweaked and arranged everything exactly as we requested. The quality of everything, accommodation, trips, guides and of course gorilla experience was over and above all we had hoped. Rwanda is simply stunning and so clean! Good 4x4 Land Cruiser for the week to transport us safely everywhere with the best ever driver Eric.. Thank you Brian for allocating him to us, he was fabulous on every level!
Not a thing... Fabulous company to deal with.
All our trip guides were fantastic. All spoke very good English, were courteous, knowledgeable and passionate about their own subjects. Eric our personal driver/guide was just the best we have ever had. Eric was extremely professional at all times, and great company too with a good sense of humour. His knowledge on every aspect of Rwanda, its history, culture and his own particular passion the wildlife, has to be second to none. He could not have been a better choice for us. Thank you!
Just go....... Rwanda will not disappoint..... Fabulous hilly scenery everywhere, and so clean. The people are lovely (and not pushy). A very safe country to visit, we notably saw a good number of single female tourists safely travelling alone! A little country with so much to offer. When in Kigali the Genocide Memorial must be done, but allocate it as the only thing you do that day, it is a very powerful and moving experience and you not likely to be in the mood for anything other than reflection after it for the rest of the day. We loved our day trip down to Huye Coffee Plantation and called in at the Kings Palace (old grass hut style and newer colonial) museum on the way back, which just added an hour to the day, but worth seeing along with the sacred cattle kept there. The Mountain Gorillas are just incredible to see in their native habitat. A must do if you can. Lake Kivu was a lovely place to spend the last couple of days relaxing. Rwanda is just half the size of Scotland and has so much to see, wish we had stayed longer.
Our 4 hour trek to spend an hour with the Kwitonda family group of 34 Mountain Gorillas.... WOW … just WOW!!!! Even the weather co-operated, and the gorillas as luck would have it, decided to spend an hour just chilling while we were with them in a lovely open (for tropical rain forest) location of dappled sun, great for photos.... It was THE most perfect day!
