Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica

A warm and sunny welcome to Costa Rica! Your flight disembarks at Juan Santamaría International Airport. After passing through immigration and customs, you will meet one of our local representatives and brought to your hotel. At your hotel you will receive a welcome package to set you up for the excitement ahead.

San Jose - Tortuguero

Day 2: Discover the Amazonas of Costa Rica

Facing the Caribbean Sea and the Tortuguero River, Tortuguero is one of Costa Rica’s main treasures. Its name meaning “place of turtles” is renowned for its yearly arrival of 4 different turtle species that nest on its beaches. To get to your destination hotel we will provide a bus transfer from San José to one of the important ports of the canals.  Once at the canals you may board a small motor boat that will traverse the canals to your chosen hotel.

Day 3: How many animals can you spot?

Through an infinite network of river canals and mangroves, you will experience a truly unique contact with nature.  Although remote, there is rich, stunning, unspoiled nature as well as fauna. Hiking and a boat trip is included. On turtle nesting season (July to October), there is an optional tour at night available upon request at the hotel.

Day 4: Observe Costa Rica's iconic volcano

The Arenal Volcano located in La Fortuna is the most iconic volcano in Costa Rica. It is a perfectly coned shaped volcano that was the most active volcano up until 2010. During your hike, an experienced naturalist guide will point out interesting plants and wildlife in the vibrant primary and secondary rainforest of the El Silencio Nature Reserve that skirts the Arenal Volcano National Park. You’ll then arrive to the observation point of the Arenal Volcano, a perfect vantage point to take remarkable photos as the sun sets behind the Arenal Volcano.After your hike you will be going to the bespoken Tabacón Hot Springs, a truly luxurious, world renowned resort. The natural hot spring resort features a hot river that flows through a series of pools and tributaries.

Day 5: Jungle Fun

On this hike along the trails of Arenal National Park we will enter into the tropical forest and areas which were once devastated by the fury of the volcano. During the hike, it is possible to see a great variety the area’s characteristic flora and fauna, as well as sites of interest like the impact craters and on to the Lava slides of 1992, a large accumulation of solidified volcanic material ejected from the crater of this might  colossus, during the very active period of that year. On clear days, you will enjoy incredible views of the impressive Arenal Volcano, Arenal Lake, the Tilarán mountain range, and Cerro Chato.

Day 6: Magic Monteverde

As you head toward your destination, the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, feel the climate change as a cool breeze takes over from the humidity. Your journey takes you high up into the cloud forest, an area with generally less rain. This forest, with a higher altitude and more humidity creates a somewhat surreal atmosphere as clouds take over the forest. Enjoy, as you witness one of the most exceptional wildlife sanctuaries in the New World Tropics.

Day 7: Bird's perspective

Today you are going to discover the cloud forest in a very special way – you will start with the walkways tour, which is a combination of trails and seven bridges where you will have the opportunity to explore all the levels of the cloud forest, starting from the ground and getting to the top of the great trees. Once you are on them you will be able to admire the great diversity of flora and fauna typically found in the tropical rain forest and also have the opportunity to see many different bird and plant species.  A hike on the Monteverde hanging bridges will be a memorable experience!

Day 8: Paradisiacal Manuel Antonio

Relax and enjoy the beach and rainforest. The Manuel Antonio National Park is considered one of the most beautiful in the country. The coastline is a combination of beaches with crystal clear waters and coral reefs, bordered by lush vegetation. On these beaches diving and surfing are very popular. During your journey enjoy scenic views while driving along huge plantations of African palm and picturesque villages.

Day 9: Wildlife spotting in the Manuel Antonio Natioal Park

Start your day with an expert guide pointing out the wonders of Manuel Antonio National Park. Here you will spot white faced Capuchin monkey, red back squirrel monkey and howler monkeys, sloths, coatis, agoutis, brilliantly colored land crabs and many more. The relaxed walk through the park lasts around 2.5-3 hours. As well as spotting the large number of wildlife, you will also learn a great deal about the history of this stunning part of the country. This tour is a must for anyone staying in Manuel Antonio.

Corcovado National Park Established in 1975 and covers one-third of the Osa Peninsula, one of the wildest zones in the country. It is protected specifically for scientific research, conservation goals and environmental education. Because of its geographical location and composition, a huge diversity of biological species appear in and around the park, combing both terrestrial and marine ecosystems, such as marshes, mangrove swamps, rainforests, rivers, shallow lagoons and cloud forest.

Day 11: Explore the most biological intense place on earth

A visit to the Corcovado National Park is a must when on the Osa Peninsula. The National Park is one of the most beautiful conservation regions of the world.  Here you are likely to see ocelots, margay, jaguars, tapirs, red macaws, toucans, quetzals and lots more.There may be one hundred different types of trees in one hundred meters. Your guided hike to the San Pedrillo Station will allow you to discover this incredible abundance of wildlife. At midday you stop to eat on a deserted beach and swim in the San Pedrillo waterfall. Corcovado is really a unique place named ¨biological most intense place in the world¨ by National Geographic.

Day 12: Snorkeling at Caño Island

The ocean near Drake Bay is abundant with marine species. Isla de Caño is home to many of the same species living in the Galapagos Islands. The waters offshore (known as the Costa Rican Thermal Convection Dome) teem with dolphins, migrating whales, mantas, sea turtles and lots of marine wildlife.

Day 13: Capital Life

Just a few minutes from the airport you will find the bustling capital San José, where you will encounter the warmth and friendliness of the Costa Ricans. Spend a day relaxing at your hotel or take a historic tour around the city visiting our museums or the National Theater. There are also plenty of opportunities in the surrounding areas like coffee tours, volcano hikes and adventure trips.
