Day 1: Welcome to Lima!

Upon arrival to Lima's International Airport, look out for the friendly face to welcome you before transferring you to your hotel in Miraflores, where you are free to relax and wander around at your own pace and leisure. 

Lima is a city with a history spanning millennia. It mixes pre-Columbian temples with towering high-rises. With galleries debuting edgy contemporary art and a new gastronomic scene bursting at the seams, this sprawling metropolis now oozes the sophistication of a modern Latin American city. 

After check-in, we'll hand you your travel kit and have a short briefing to answer any last-minute questions, and depending on the time of arrival, we have plenty of suggestions for you to make the most of your first day in Lima.

Day 2: Tastes the Flavors of Lima

Lima's cuisine, popular art, and local culture await you today! Get ready for a food tour through the bohemian district of Barranco.

Visiting owner-run coffee shops, art galleries, and small local restaurants is the best way to getting a feel of the Peruvian culture and during our walking route, you will sample more than 15 Peruvian dishes and drinks. From our most popular dish ceviche to a causa limeña, you'll not only learn how everything is prepared but travels through history. Every bite has a story to tell!

We'll return to your hotel in the early afternoon and the rest of the day is free so you can relax and wander at your own pace.

If you're looking to explore, a stroll along the ocean-view promenade, a visit to the Amano Museum, or a tour of the pyramids of Huaca Pucllana, are all within walking distance from your hotel.

Day 3: Cook with Locals in the Sacred Valley

After breakfast, we will take transfer you to the airport to board your flight to the city of Cusco. Upon arrival, your guide will welcome you, and together you will drive towards the Miminay community in the Sacred Valley Incas.

At Misminay, our local hosts will show you around their beautiful spaces. After walking through their fields and local crops such as quinoa, habas, and potatoes, you’ll start cooking your very own lunch! Your host will guide you in an easy hands-on cooking class in which you will learn how to make a typical meal in the Andes with quinoa and tubers.

If time allows, you will make uchucuta too, a traditional hot sauce made with local chilies grounded in a traditional stone called batan. After enjoying a tasty meal together, we will continue to your hotel in the peaceful Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Ollantaytambo - Machu Picchu

Day 4: Be Swept Away by the Beauty of Machu Picchu

We'll begin today by heading to Ollantaytambo, a charming village that has not changed much since Inca times! We will visit the Ollantaytambo archeological site, a place with impressive Inca stonework only seconded by that of Machu Picchu. 

Next, we'll head to the train station to board our train to Aguas Calientes, where upon arriving, we'll take a 30-minutes bus up the steep zigzagging road to Machu Picchu Citadel, located on an impressive mountain setting.

Once here, you'll start your exploration of the site accompanied by your guide. The afternoon is a great time to take your guided tour of the citadel, as many travelers should be leaving at this point. Finally, we'll head down to the village and take you to your comfortable hotel to spend the night.

Ollantaytambo - Cusco

Day 5: Learn Local Cooking Techniques in Ollantaytambo

After an unforgettable day in Machu Picchu, we'll prepare to make our way to Cusco, the old Inca capital.

First, we must return by train to Ollantaytambo where you will enjoy a special activity at lunchtime, the perfect time to enjoy an exceptional Andean delicacy, a pachamanca.

It is a traditional cooking technique where the food is prepared underground using preheated stones and leaves to separate ingredients from the soil. The main ingredients are Andean tubers such as potato, sweet potato, olluco, oca, mashua, as well as beef or lamb along with Andean aromatic herbs for flavor.

Finally, after your tasty lunch, your private transport will be ready to take you to Cusco.

Cusco

Day 6: Experience Peruvian Cuisine in the Kitchen

Having tasted many of the main Peruvian dishes, you will now spend a day with Seledonia Montalvo, a fantastic local chef that will share with you all about Cusco's cuisine.

Start your day visiting San Pedro Market, where you'll see the variety of local products that can be obtained from this region and the nearby Amazon. Taste exotic fruits such as lucuma, chirimoya, and granadilla and learn about the diversity of products used in our local cuisine.

Afterward, you'll head to Seledonia's Kitchen where, together, you will test your skills at preparing some Peruvian classics, or get creative and innovate with our local ingredients. This cooking class will be all about having fun, learning about local culture, and a bit of creativity too!

Cusco

Day 7: Say Farewell to Peru

This morning, you'll have free time to explore the area at your own pace and leisure. Maybe take one last walk around Cusco's shops and markets to see what special item you can take home.

Afterward, at a predetermined time, we'll transfer you to Cusco's airport to board your flight to Lima and international connecting flights to your next destination.

Hopefully, you will be heading home full of happy memories of food, new friends, and their menus to share, and great pictures of your time with us!
