Detailed Itinerary

Siem Reap
Day 1: Welcome to Siem Reap!
Upon arrival into Siem Reap’s international airport, you will be greeted by a representative and transferred to your accommodation. An unmissable destination in northwestern Cambodia, the city is the gateway to Angkor - the seat of the Khmer kingdom between the 9th and 15th centuries.
If you still have energy to burn after your long-haul flight, why not head out to acquaint yourself with the local area? Explore the textiles, spices and fresh produce for sale at the Old Market, or tuck into traditional Khmer cuisine - the national dish, amok (coconut fish curry) is a rich and spicy delight to try on your first night here! Alternatively, simply relax in your accommodation and enjoy a restful night's sleep, ahead of a day of exploring.

Siem Reap - Angkor Wat - Siem Reap
Day 2: Marvel at the iconic Angkor Wat
Today, set out from Siem Reap to visit the iconic Angkor Wat - the largest religious monument in the world, known for its stunning architecture and intricate carvings. This UNESCO-listed Buddhist temple complex sprawls out across more than 160 hectares, and is considered to be one of the most important archaeological sites of Southeast Asia - no visit to Cambodia would be complete without a tour of its grounds.
Next, continue on to the exquisite pink sandstone temple of Banteay Srei, about a 45-minute drive north of Angkor Wat. Dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, this smaller yet mighty landmark dates back to the 10th century and is known for its beautifully detailed carvings. After taking plenty of time to explore its grounds, return to Siem Reap and enjoy the rest of your day at leisure, before an overnight stay.

Siem Reap - Phnom Kulen National Park - Siem Reap
Day 3: Into the heart of nature
Take an hour-long drive out of Siem Reap today, to spend a while amidst the natural charms of Phnom Kulen National Park - a sacred site filled with gushing waterfalls, little shrines and temples. It's considered the birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire, and offers wonderful respite away from the city bustle. Perhaps enjoy a relaxing swim while you're here, before returning to Siem Reap to continue exploring at your own pace.

Siem Reap - Sambor Prei Kuk
Day 4: Explore the ancient ruins of Sambor Prei Kuk
Today, leave Siem Reap behind as you continue your journey across Cambodia by private transfer. Your next stop is Sambor Prei Kuk, an ancient temple complex and UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its well-preserved pre-Angkorian ruins and serene atmosphere.
Immerse yourself in the lush countryside as you explore this off-the-beaten-path destination, soaking up the intricacies of its fascinating carvings and structure. You'll then have the rest of the day to relax at leisure, visiting local villages before settling down into your accommodation for the night - homestay experiences are possible, for a chance to embrace authentic like-a-local living.

Today, you'll travel by private transfer to Phnom Penh - the vibrant capital city of Cambodia, known for its rich history and cultural heritage. After a journey of just under four hours, you'll likely want to relax for a while in your accommodation - but don't miss your chance to explore the city after sundown! Enjoy the bustle of the local night market, the aromas of sizzling street food, and the chance to sample one of the oldest cuisines in Southeast Asia. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Phnom Penh

Today, you'll embark on a city tour of Phnom Penh, rich in history and fascination. Stops include the Royal Palace complex, official royal residence of the King of Cambodia; the Silver Pagoda, home to the stunning Emerald Buddha statue; and the thought-provoking Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, which provides insight into Cambodia's tragic history under the Khmer Rouge regime. Then, return to your accommodation to rest up, or take some more time to explore the city sights at your leisure, before an overnight stay.

Phnom Penh - Vientiane
Day 7: Seek serenity in Vientiane, Laos
Today you'll say goodbye to Cambodia as you fly to Vientiane, the laid-back capital of Laos! Known for its French colonial architecture and serene Buddhist temples, here begins the exciting second half of your Southeast Asian adventure.
Enjoy some time at leisure to explore Vientiane, your base for the night where unmissable attractions include: Wat Sisaket, the city's oldest temple which houses over 2,000 ceramic and silver Buddha figures; Wat Phra Keo, former residence of the Emerald Buddha; the Patuxai Victory Gate, built to honor those who died in the struggle for independence from France; and the Pha That Luang stupa, Laos' most important national monument, completely covered with gold and said to represent a banana blossom.

Vientiane - Vang Vieng
Day 8: The surreal landscapes of Vang Vieng
Check out of your accommodation and say goodbye to Vientiane, as you take a private transfer to Vang Vieng. Located about two hours' drive away, this town is set against a backdrop of picturesque limestone karsts and the Nam Song River. It offers a magical setting within which you'll want to unwind and relax, away from the city buzz.
Enjoy activities along (or on!) the Nam Song River, such as kayaking or simply relaxing amid the stunning natural scenery. Then, retreat to your accommodation in Vang Vieng for a sound night's sleep.

Vang Vieng - Luang Prabang
Day 9: Get to know Luang Prabang's rich heritage
Today, move on from Vang Vieng as you travel to Luang Prabang by train or private transfer. This UNESCO-listed city is known for its well-preserved architecture, traditional wooden houses, and rich cultural and religious history - it's a must-visit on any trip through Laos.
After your five-hour drive or hour-long train journey, take some time to explore Luang Prabang at your leisure, perhaps visiting local markets, temple-hopping, exploring the Old Town, or tasting your way through Lao cuisine - the sticky rice here is popular and unmissable, and is perfectly paired with a plate of larb (thinly sliced meat or fish mixed with herbs and spices). Alternatively, you could simply relax at your accommodation, taking some time to rest before a day of outdoor pursuits ahead.

Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Caves - Luang Prabang
Day 10: Otherworldly cave exploration
This morning, slip into your walking shoes and venture out to explore the Pak Ou Caves, located at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Ou Rivers. It's known for housing thousands of Buddha statues, left behind by pilgrims over the centuries.
Back in Luang Prabang for the afternoon, immerse yourself in the cultural heritage of the city by visiting the Royal Palace Museum. Then, take a climb up the steep yet manageable Mount Phousi - as you reach the summit, you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the city and the Mekong River.

Day 11: Spirituality & serene waterfalls
Rise early to witness the traditional alms-giving ceremony, where local monks collect food from devotees in the early morning. Then, take a day trip to visit the Kuang Si Waterfall, a three-tiered marvel that also features turquoise pools - perfect for swimming and relaxation on your last full day in Laos.
Return to Luang Prabang, where you'll have the rest of the day to tick more sights off your must-visit list, before returning to your accommodation for a final night.
