Thick mangroves and tangled foliage add to the eerie atmosphere of the uninhabited island. Visitors are asked to keep voices low and respect the sacred site to avoid disturbing the spirits that reputedly reside here. According to folklore, the island is haunted and only visited by shamans or spiritual healers who perform rituals to heal the sick, ask for bountiful harvests or appease the spirits.
