Travel responsibly and sustainably with your Argentinian local expert

|

Reimagining travel to become more sustainable and responsible is something that is hugely important to us at TravelLocal and influences the way we run our business. We are very proud of the work our Sustainability & Ethics team as well as our incredible local experts have been doing to make changes to the travel industry to create a fairer, more sustainable travel industry.

Our Argentinian local experts have been implementing lots of impactful practices and we spoke to Clara and Laura to find out more.

“By compensating carbon emissions, operating plastic-free trips and committing to local communities we are leading to a more sustainable, responsible and meaningful way of exploring Argentina”.

What do they do?

We are carbon negative, climate positive

We offset carbon emissions from all trips.

Since August 2020, we are the first travel company in Argentina to compensate for all the CO2 emissions you’ll make during your trip when traveling by land.

But we decided that was not enough: we took this one step further to remove more carbon dioxide than we produce.

To make this possible, through the Adventure Travel Trade Association we are partnering with South Pole, one of the most reputable organizations on Climate Change actions, to make sure that those resources go directly to the projects that are working to reduce our carbon footprints on our planet.

Compensating with South Pole + planting trees turns us into climate positive.

We re-plant the land you visit

In Partnership with Reforestarg, and other local NGOs, we stand and act against deforestation.

Every year, we donate and plant more than 1.000 trees in damaged zones of Patagonia to help restore native forests.

Empowering Local Communities

We are locals that work with locals. We believe that travel has the power to contribute to the sustainable development of the host communities we visit and improve their livelihoods.

That’s why we:

→We work with more than 50 small and family-run operators.

→Always prefer independent local accommodation over chain hotels

→We love sharing our local culture in a respectful way

→We encourage tourists to shop ethically and consciously and choose street vendors and artisans over mass-produced tourist shops.

→This way, you can be sure that at least 80% of what our clients pay, goes directly to the veins of the community.

We also contribute to empowering local communities through tourism.

Our Global Commitment

Along with TravelLocal we proudly signed the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism.

The Glasgow Declaration has been launched as part of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) with the intention of creating a shared commitment between tourism stakeholders to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero before 2050.
