Tea And Trains In Sri Lanka

Combining two of my favourite things in the world – tea and trains – was always going to be a winner and so it proved to be on a recent trip to Sri Lanka, where a train journey through ‘tea country’ was a real highlight. The journey from Kandy to Ella isn’t just for train aficionados though – the scenery is stunning, with rolling hills covered in verdant tea bushes, dotted with brightly dressed Tamil tea pickers.

The train journey from Kandy to Ella takes around six and a half hours. From Kandy to Nuwara Eliya is shorter at three and a half hours.
