Best family trip ever

This has got to have been one of our best family holidays ever. It was a very 'full on' trip. We did everything from trekking, to white water rafting, scuba diving and visiting Temples. Saw volcanoes and spent the night with locals. Ate in wonderful restaurants and local homes. Stopped by a wedding and a funeral. Met some truly lovely local people. TravelLoca's Indonesian partner helped us plan and then arranged an unforgettable family holiday.

What was good about our local partner based in Indonesia?

I cannot fault TravelLocal's Indonesia partner and the only reason why I haven't given them 5 stars for ease/quality of interaction, is that people need to be aware that because of the time difference you may not always get an immediate response. Some people may find this frustrating. However in the country we were very impressed by their response, which was almost immediate, even at 7 pm. From the outset they were attentive and extremely helpful. I had my own personal contact (Evy) and she was fabulous. In the end she came up with four different options and guided me to what was an amazing holiday. It was exactly what we were looking for. Adventure, an opportunity to get to know the people and a flavour of the country, whilst seeing some fabulous sites. Also when we did have a problem, which was of our own making, they sorted it out straight away. Sending a driver on a six hour round trip to collect a left item and picked up the bill. What more could you ask for. Everything fell in to place, from the drivers waiting for us at the airport, to wonderful guides. It was so relaxing and stress free having everything arranged. What was especially good, was that Evy suggested places that I had not known of and explained why she thought we should visit them and why other places would not necessarily be what we were looking for. Somehow she knew what we were seeking and got it just right for us.

What could our local partner based in Indonesia improve on?

Not sure. They were great and I would recommend them to anyone wanting to go to Indonesia.

What did you think about the guides or drivers on your trip?

All the guides were lovely, some slightly more so than others. I must in particular mention Sandi, who met us in Makasar and took us to Malino. He was such fun, just lovely and a good guide. He had the local school children signing to us, got us invited to a wedding and was so patient when one in our party got stroppy cycling. Also Daniel on lake Poso. Such a kind and open man, who was only too happy to chat to us in the evenings. Who was happy to go swimming with us at the waterfalls and seemed to enjoy the adventure as much as we did. He was also so kind to travel all that way to collect our lost item. April in Rinca and Komodo was very good too, as was Daud in Toraja.

What advice would you give to other travellers planning a trip to Indonesia?

You need to travel long distances on sometimes not great roads to reach your destination. If you are prepared for that, be prepared to have the most wonderful experiences.

What was the most memorable part of your trip?

So many to mention. Virtually every day had something that amazed us. The culinary tour, the Temples, Bromo, Komodo/Rinca and snorkeling off Pink Beach. Maros, the wedding and cycling in Malino, not to forget the lovely place we stayed in. Lake Tempe boat tour, Toraja and the funeral (well some of it) and trekking and staying in a torajan house. White water rafting. The lovely place we stayed on lake Poso (owned by the dutch lady), The waterfall in Tentene and the Bada valley. Ganga Island, the best way to spend the last few days, luxury and diving. All just brilliant.
